NYPD Bodycam Program

I got out before the use of bodycam was widely adopted. It would have probably stopped me from peeing by the side of the road (I'm kidding).

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am picturing that.

Did you have dashcams then? Management be they public or private love watching people. A job or two before hogging I had a short stint working for a security company watching a bunch of cameras at an industrial park at night. Took me a good day or two learning how to activate the external cameras contrast alarms by reading the service and troubleshooting manuals about the system. Had to get my sleep. The one thing BLE-T seems to be fast losing is the war with the railroads instituting inward face cameras in locomotives and cab control cars. If I were the BLE-T president I'd agree to such if every crew dispatch desk and the little cubicles reserved for foremen of road engines next to the toilet bowls had hot miked cameras and the life forms that occupied them had to submit to hourly drug test and daily polygraphs life would be good again.

Yes. As of 2014 when I retired, Police cruiser dashcams had been a thing for almost two decades I believe. They first used those big ones you'd get for your family home video in early 90's and still not every car had one but more to do with it being a small town PD. Really got in your field of view. Private sectors were way ahead of ours.

I salute you as crime busting is no joke, especially now. When you get a minute take a look see at the NYPD bodycam Thread in the current news subforum. The post that has the pdf insert, if you open that up you will see the columns to the right in blue, click on any one of the blue highlighted links and you can actually watch live bodycam footage of officer involved shootings. As in the warning some of the footage is extremely graphic but you having been in the profession this would be another day in the life.. Well I gotta hit the hay if I'm to take the grandbrats into the house of the Lord. Be blessed.

I can't speak for everybody but to me it's never easy to watch and I never get used to it. One thing to note is the 60 second buffer on the AXON cam. What we used in the state of Nevada only had a 30 second buffer. You'd think that they would have already improved on it by now. But I guess the latest one has all the bells and whistles that old ones don't. I know the cams now upload the feed instantly to their servers while in recording mode.

Correction: I don't know why I thought it was not an improvement. 60 second buffer means the last minute is always saved to memory, doubled what it used to be. And yes, I got up just to say this. Shows you I shouldn't comment on anything while high on medication.

I just realized your other avatar. That was you back in the day.

Oh the hard assed one? Yes.
What happened to yours?

I am more sensitive then I let on being half Haitian and half Jewish so when the occasional race baiting comments start snowballing I just shut down and back out for a spell. The 3 or 4 obvious former Topix trolls rear their heads only in response to threads addressing race based incidents. They never ever initiate a race based thread and they know exactly just how far to push personal buttons before violating the sites TOS. It is what it is. I am just testing the waters for a bit right now then I'll be back in full swing. Stay frosty RFW, you're a good person.

I see what you mean. I appreciate you saying that. I wouldn't want to be attacked either. It never feels good.
