What are your favorite Western Movies?

Gaer

"Angel whisperer"
As some of you know, my late husband was a buckeroo, sheriff and Federal Marshal. So, I watched his Western movies with him!
He got me hooked on "Gunsmoke", and some great Western movies! Part of my interest might be because I grew up in an ole Montana cow town.
Here are some Western movies which are my favorites! Please add yours! Thanks!

Lonesome Dove, (of course! best movie of all time)
Rough Riders (about Teddy Roosevelt)
Open Range (Kevin Costner)
The Grey Fox (Richard Farnsworth about Bill Miner)
Broken Trail Robert Duvall)
Wyatt Earp ( another Kevin Costner film)
Along came Jones ( Gary Cooper)
Ox Box Incident (Old West Justice)

Let's hear yours!

Unforgiven
Silverado
Good, Bad & the Ugly
True Grit (Jeff Bridges)
The Searchers (good story, bad acting)
All of yours

Loved Westerns, if I was one to believe in reincarnation I truly thought it possible I was once a cowboy. My mom told me my toy holster with 2 guns went on just after my morning diaper.

Loved westerns. One of my favorites:
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962)

title song by Gene Pitney

Very good "small" western called The Tin Star with Henry Fonda and Anthony Perkins.

Also,

Shane
Winchester '73
The Naked Spur
Hondo
Stagecoach
The Long Riders (with three sets of brothers as the Millers, Youngers and James Brothers)
Hombre
The Professionals (Lee Marvin, Burt Lancaster)
High Noon
McCabe and Mrs. Miller

Most of those mentioned above, including especially "Blazing Saddles," "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Unforgiven"

from Clint Eastwood (who almost ran me over at Warner Bros. Accidentally. It was not my fault that I wasn't paying attention to where I was going at the time.)
"A Fist Full of Dollars"
"For A Few Dollars More"
"Hang 'Em High"
"High Plains Drifter"
"The Outlaw Josey Wales"

As a child I rarely got to the movies, but some TV series come to mind, and they are all basically the same show: good guy travels the West fighting crime and injustice.

"The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok" starring Guy Madison, with Andy Devine as Jingles, the comic sidekick
"The Cisco Kid" starring Duncan Ronaldo, with Leo Carrillo as Pancho, the comic sidekick
"Have Gun Will Travel" starring Richard Boone who, sadly, lacked a sidekick
"The Lone Ranger" starring Clayton Moore, with Jay Silverheels as Tonto the serious sidekick
"Range Rider" starring Jock Mahoney, with Dick Jones as Dick West, his young sidekick.

And remember, if you find yourself in the wild west, and someone is chasing you, never go into a box canyon.

I don't really care for westerns...but like "The good, the bad and the ugly"
Especially that haunting theme song.
And the ending!
Can watch over&over!

Gunsmoke ran for 20 years. I have just finished the 15th year which means I still have 5 more years to go. Also, watching the 5th year of Rawhide with 3 more years to go. I have seen all of Wyatt Earp, The Rifleman, Have Gun Will Travel Wanted Dead or Alive with Steve McQueen.

Don't know why I never got into Bonanza? I like Cheyenne but the DVDs are so darn expensive to buy. Really dislike the "modern" western due to constant swearing, constant senseless shooting and those long heavy coats they wear are a big disappointment. Reckon, I like my cowboys with a bit of class. Wyatt Earp, Bat Matterson and Marshall Dillon all had class.

Many of those mentioned were all very good films
I like Jeremiah Johnson not sure if that is classified as a western
but i enjoy Robert Redford's work ... also a film he did called An Unfinished Life is pretty good too

Jeremiah Johnson is good. It takes place in the West, so why not?
