Pet Sitter Severely Injured; Dog Owners Knew Their Dogs Were Vicious

I'm not clicking on that link but this happens all too often .. only last week there was someone who left a Pit-bull alone with a kiddie.. and the dog killed the child..
But dog lovers would tell you that Pits are loyal, loving and cuddly.

"I have three kids. One is 3 years old. No history of violence. None," Justin Bishop said to police.

How stupid can he be. Even wolves are gentle with their own pack, and of course, Bishop's dogs were polite to the young woman when she came for a pre-sitting visit. The alpha (Mr. Bishop) was present indicating that she was okay at that time. When she came into the house while the dogs were alone, they saw her as an intruder and went for her the way only a pit bull can, with a German Shepard to help.

I'm so tired of the owners acting surprised.

From https://www.dogsbite.org/ on human deaths by dogs.
"Pit bulls contributed to 67% (380) of these deaths. Combined, pit bulls and rottweilers contributed to 76% of the total recorded deaths."

I was sitting in my vet's waiting room one day with my little dog on my lap when a Rottweiler came through the door on the lead with his owners pulling behind him. He lunged at me and I ran and faced the wall with my dog in front of me. Both owners were pulling him back as hard as they could but barely kept him off me until the vet came running with a syringe of tranquilizer. The vet was shook up himself and told me later that he had quit taking Pit Bulls as patients and was going to add Rottweilers. He said they were just too "unpredictable."

Considering those 2 breeds of dogs, if I were the owners, I would have been apprehensive about having someone come in without family there. At least, for the first few times or so.

Horrible, what they did to her face. I hope plastic surgery will bring back her true likeness.

I like dogs....our neighbors nice little beagle spends most weekdays on our front porch, when they go to work. However, I have NO use for big viscous dogs...especially if they are allowed to run free. If someone in our area ever got a Pit bull, etc., and let it roam the area, I would seriously consider using it for "target practice".

Yep. I concur. We used to have our farm dogs that could be considered vicious but we trained them and they didn't roam around unaccompanied. Also, if you shoot one these days for whatever reason, the PETA crowd will be all over you.

I agree but I never expect people to be honest anymore ......
they know their dogs and in a situation where someone is coming into their home any dog may be aggressive...
I had a neighbor let herself in one day AFTER I told her do not go in house ........... i had my sons dog there ....
dog lunged and nipped at her and he had many many times visiting with her previously but without us home he was protective ......he is a nice breed combo but the protective instinct is there.

She let herself into your home?
she was walking my small dog while i was at work
i told her "DO NOT do it on Thursday as son's dog is here" i watch his dog when he travels etc.

she thought she had seen the dog many times before and it would be OK. found out nope
the screen door she shut in time to not get really bit or anything.
