Make brain health a part of our daily life.

Brain challenges, cooking and exercise videos, fun games are just a few suggestions.

Get empowered and take control of your brain health , as you age, by creating a plan that works specifically for you.

What's your daily brain challenge(s)?

Well as stated earlier, I complete a cryptic crossword most days..if not cryptic, certainly a word game of some sort ( off line)...

I play word games on this forum every day...

I play anagram word games online regularly about once or twice a week for about an hour or so..

I'm an avid reader...and researcher, and like to learn something new every single day... and usually achieve it no matter how small

I like to play online/free poker. I probably spend about an hour a day trying to match "wits" with other players from around the nation/world. The possible card combinations, and the maneuvers other players take, really makes me think. Plus, this frequent playing often pays off when we go to the casinos.

IMO, the brain is like a muscle...."if you don't use it, you lose it".

We in this technological telecom era suddenly have immense resources available to stimulate our minds. No longer is a senior condemned to watching Westerns and inane comedies on Tv, reading paper books, and playing bingo. For a start go to youtube and search on any subject of interest. For example "gardening". Also it is easy to find others with similar interest with groups like meetups dot com and a long list of other enthusiast online groups. That noted, the majority of seniors today because of lack of skills tend to be intimidated at climbing the technical wall to minimally access such possibilities. Given the rise of smartphones, many seniors have been forced to at least go that far. I will suggest moving beyond such tiny smartphone screens and purchasing an inexpensive laptop that will open up a vast world of possibilities to make one's last years more interesting and productive.

I not only have an Iphone, but a Kindle, an Ipad, a Laptop and a 27 inch Mac desktop.. as well as Amazon Echo Dot.. and Google home hub... I often wonder how much more enriched my mum's life would be if she'd lived until today, ( she died at 39 years old in '73..in fact it would be her 86th Birthday tomorrow)

92% I think my brain cells are rapidly dying off :ROFLMAO:

I also have an Iphone, Ipad, Kindle, Macbook Air, Macbook pro, a windows laptop, Amazon Echo Dot,
Smart TVs. Tech overload, but I love it.
yes of course I fogot my Smart TV's... however it wasn't me who was the techi one, it was my estranged o/h , so I have to try and learn to keep up with the technical side of all those things now he's not here any more .

My dd otoh is a tech wizard like my hubsnad.. Me?..I just use the technical equipment I never got involved very much with the techi side of it, but that has been changing over these last few months since he's been gone..

I've been alone for a lot of years, so I had to do everything myself. The amazing part is just about every issue I have, I can find the solution online. You Tube is the best. The real techy person in our family is my daughter-in-law, especially so with Apple products. But if I figure something out myself, it makes more sense to me, and I tend to remember it.

Yes I do the same now with online tutorials, and if I get really stuck I ask my DD... but prior to my husband going 8 months ago it wasn't necessary for me to do it because he's a techi Genius...altho' I did pick up a few things over 21 years...

Less Stress
Enjoying Life
Meditation
Watching You Tube videos on Wisdom
Listening to music that touch my soul
Playing challenging games on my cell phone
Reading Law of Attraction - Relationship, Health, Money
Learning to stay Positive
Spending time out with family and friends
Reading
Dancing to the music

All of the above are PRICELESS in my life đź’•

I play games on my kind Bookworm and Wordsearch, matching games like Mahjong and Cubistry which are more challenging because there are mixed cues on the various 'pieces' so you have to sttend closely to get an exact match.

I read non fiction: science, history, psychology. I like to learn new things. Arthritic hands and loss of endurance has made it helpful to rethink the way i do routine tasks so i can get them done without undue physical strain. That helps foster mental flexibility.

But at the same time i've learned how to use the power of body memory and habit to reduce the number of moments that tend to worry people our age--misplacing things, forgetting important things like meds, or even what we were doing.

Thing Is, everyone an be forgetful when stressed but because of stereotypes seniors get even more stressed by small understandable such moments. And that just adds to normal stressors increases liklihood of more difficulties staying on task and keeping track of things.

Like others i make use of tech tools, search engines, sites dedicated to certain types of info, YouTube can be helpful, informative and/or relaxing. It is all in how you use it. But i don't keep allow myself.to be available to every fool cold call scammer 24/7/365. The phone is off at night and at least 1 day a week. Don't need the aggravation.

My working life was spent in Electronics and computing. Now, as far as possible, I do without technology. I have a 'dumb phone' for emergencies and a laptop. I apparently have a 'smart' TV but just use it as an ordinary one, and one of these 'Alexa' things that is still in its box - in a cupboard somewhere.

I much prefer 'craft' activities - gardening, Furniture making, DIY etc..
