This is for "our cousins...across the pond"... mostly.
( Or for visitors...who've been...)

There's a TV show on PBS called "Escape to the Country" where a couple want to get away from the city and move to the country. Real estate agent shows them the house and area they think they want to be...like Dorset... Somerset..as an example.

Which region ( district) do you think is the best? Beautiful, and why?

And, anyone, who'se been? Give your thoughts!🤔

Yes I know the show very well. They often show houses out here in the countryside where I live..in fact on one episode they showed a house in the next road to mine...

however it's not just counties in England they show, it;s also Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales, and the prices vary greatly.. England almost always way much higher priced than the rest.

There are very beautiful places in all of the countries, so it would be hard to choose any one...

For me, I would prefer nearer the coast. I live deep in the countryside as it is, and all our village stores etc have closed a long time ago, as have the pubs.. so we have to go to the nearest market town for facilities and that's happened all around England , as well as the other 3 countries. There's very few villages left now with a local store and a pub... .and of course there's rarely any public transport from the villages and hamlets..

However for sheer beauty alone.. the coastal areas of the west of Scotland where I was born and raised takes some beating...
