April’s full Moon rises on the night of Saturday, April 16. Traditionally called the Pink Moon, this full Moon is also the Paschal full Moon this year. Here’s everything you should know about the Moon this month, including facts, folklore, and Moon phase dates.

When to See the Full Moon in April 2022

Venture outside on the night of Saturday, April 16, to catch a glimpse of April’s full Pink Moon. This full Moon reaches peak illumination at 2:57 P.M. EDT, but won’t be visible above the horizon until after sunset.

For the best view of this lovely spring Moon, find an open area and watch as the Moon rises just above the horizon, at which point it will appear its biggest and take on a golden hue! (Find local Moon rise and set times here.)

I'd say my chances are 50/50; high clouds moving in from the northwest, but the moon-rise area still showing lots of blue. Thanks for the heads-up, Becky!

Em, You know so much about the skies. Could you tell us ahead of time, (like a day before)?
Thank you so much for telling us about this! It's fascinating!
Unfortunately, there is a raging fire not far away and the sky is full of smoke and soot, so I can't view it.
But, I love your post!

Hi Gaer! This wasn't my post, just a response from me. Becky1951 was the original poster. I am still a sky-watching 'nut' - but haven't been posting of late. I did think about you during my hiatus! Sorry to hear about your fire - It is likely to be bad for much of the country this year /-;
