When I read about this kind of thing, (stamp out hunger) I can't help but wonder how many people do try to help themselves by growing their own food, especially vegetables and or fruit which often can be grown in tubs, pots etc. Seems to me too many rely on the supermarket for their food.

Good point, but there are many people now who live in a small space...apartment, small home with little yard space. Would not have room for a garden. When I lived in my home I bought a raised plant box (so I could stand and garden) and grew tomatoes. When I first moved in, several neighbors got together, each of us planted something different....with the understanding that we could all "shop" each others gardens....without being greedy, of course
