I'm Liking Peacock. Do You Watch Any Free Streaming Services?

I wasn't looking to add Peacock to my streaming services but did so due to an ad in one of my games. I found it has enough of a catalog to keep me interested and I can choose the free options. I've been watching another reboot of (The) War of the Worlds and there have only been video ads before the program begins and non video ones when I pause the program. I love this. Other shows have limited ads, at least less than other free services. Paramount+, for which I have a paid subscription also shows brief trailers of their shows before the desired program begins as do some Hulu shows (even though I have the no ad plan), so I've gotten used to that. Peacock also has shows and movies that are only accessible with a paid subscription and those are flagged with a feather in the corner.

Do you have Peacock and/or other free services such as Tubi, The Roku Channel, FreeVee (formerly IMBD) and Pluto? All are available using the Roku player and some may be available using Firestick.

I use Tubi, Roku. I didn't realize Peacock has free options. Will have check it out. I've been getting a lot of use out of Roku's free options.

I have Peacock for English Premier League football and the monthly charge is $4.99. They send me emails regularly about available shows but I have no interest in such. If it isn't certain sports, FREE won't persuade me to watch.

I have an Amazon Fire box with Amazon Prime. It does have Pluto, Tubi and FreeVee, though I prefer using their apps. I like Pluto best. I don’t know if they have more stuff or if it’s just laid out better.

I had Paramount+. I did like it, but it was constantly buffering which was annoying. I’m thinking about trying them again though. I like the Star Trek stuff.

I don't really watch any TV until a couple hours before beddy bye
We turn the lights off to watch movies, then check on each other periodically to see if we're awake

My lady runs the controls
Seems several stations (?) are available.
Tubi, Peacock, and several others

We have the Roku box
I connected it all
That's all I know

(I'm pretty much a DVD slut)

Just got my new smarter TV...meaning smarter than my old SmartV

I stream my old favorites f Huu, Netflix, Prime and YouTube. Finding many more. Just added Freevee...formerly IMDB TV. Still looking around. Vudu, and many others. I am looking more for free streaming site..of which there are plenty

@Nathan You're welcome. Here are the (allegedly) best free streaming sites. This article mentions a few more that I didn't...just scroll down a bit. https://www.tomsguide.com/best-picks/best-free-streaming-services Happy streaming. :D

@leigh91657 Too bad you're having that problem with Paramount+. I have it on my Roku and my tablet and have never had that issue. Is that the only streaming service that buffers like that?

Oh, I think there is a lot of fun, in exploring all these.

As far as Roku goes...we did have big trouble with the Roku stick. Then we tried the Amazon firestick.

Had trouble with that also.

The device really heated up to a dangerous level.

Now, we have a cheap TV. It may not do that with a better model???

But if you use that device, definitely check it out after running it for 30 minutes, then 60 minutes, then 2 hours. Make sure it is not overheating.

If you Google it, many complaints online about it.

Until we get a better TV, we just stopped using it.

To be clear by problems overheating...I don't mean the annoyance of the device getting ruined...I mean overheating as in a fire hazard.

The thing was HOT!!!

as far as the services go...

we have some free, some paid

Before the pandemic we just had one or two. We got a bunch more for our pandemic cave...

Amazon Prime and Netflix have both been good to us. When we got Amazon Prime, that also meant we got free shipping from Amazon. And that easily paid for Amazon Prime.

Laurie likes Disney + --- she likes all the Star Wars things.

We got Britbox and Acorn for awhile. Love the BBC shows. After we binged watched endless BBC crime shows...we decided to take a break and get a different service or two.

We've been trying out Pluto, which we get for free...seems ok

We get imdb for free....found a bunch of good movies on there. I think we get the one with the ads. So, if you don't want the ads, you have to pay. But, with the mute button handy, I don't mind a few ads.

You Tube now has a bunch of movies...for free. Found a few good ones there. Bunch of old westerns were there in the mix.

well, that is what my feeble memory is allowing me to remember for now.

I do know folks who are much better than me at all this...and they seem to find amazing stuff..

Been trying out different free streaming sites available on our TVs.

So far, I've watched mostly old movies on these.

Tubi, Xumo, Filmrise (British TV), Pluto, Crackle, Freevee and Fubo.

Hoopla is one I use that's connected to my Public Library account and I borrow
movies and such, then watch them on the channel.

Fun to mess around with.

We pay $160/month for tv and internet. The thing is...we never watch any tv, except my husband likes NASCAR and he watches it on the weekends. Other then that, it's a waste of money to have tv service. I've tried to get him to watch NASCAR on Peacock but it was too complicated for him to get tuned in (I usually did it for him) and then we tried You Tube TV. Same thing. He didn't like it on there. Why? IDK.

We watch the early local news at 4:30-5:30pm on Roku for KDKA (Pittsburgh). The rest of the night is popcorn and a movie either on Prime or Netflix or something from our own collection.

When we had YouTube TV it cost about the same as our cable company so we didn't save anything. It's mind-boggling what to do these days

Have you tried the Fire Tv box? We got that instead of the Fire stick since we heard that the box played nicer with Xfinity.

I have the Google Chromecast device for streaming that has a nice user interface and I find it really easy to use. Highly recommend. The only free service I have is Pluto. I have HBOMax for free via my ATT wireless plan and Hulu (with ads) via my Spotify subscription. Hulu has too many ads now so I seldom watch it. I mainly watch Peacock and Discovery+ and like Netflix, HBOMax, Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video for movies. I have access to the full PBS library for a $60 donation and I’ve enjoyed re-watching some of the Ken Burns documentaries among others. And, I love You Tube Premium (no ads) for lots of things but mainly screen savers with relaxing music and for funny animal videos. So many choices it is almost overwhelming.

We have live cable (mainly because they offered us a new plan that added cable for $1 less per month than we were paying previously) which includes Peacock (along with others) that I use for Hockey and, like @Nosy Bee-54, English Football (Soccer).

We also have Netflix, Hulu and Prime.

I don't even know how to use a Firestick. Do they work on PC's?

I cut cable a while back because the monthly cost was outrageous. So now I use only streaming services, some free, some for a fee. I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, Acorn, Paramount+ and Peacock. Those are the ones I pay for. I have many free ones.

I had Acorn (via Prime) for a while; lots of interesting shows there.

Everything costs if you don't want program interruptions. Spotify, YouTube premium, Hulu, Peacock, Amazon Prime Video, additional subscription costs for network programs, Apple Music, 8Tracks, Samsung TV program subscriptions, HBOMAX I get from AT&T unlimited I enjoy these services, it will be difficult to choose between them what to let go or keep.

I don't know, but I would research that, make sure that the overheating issue won't damage your PC...
