Anonymous donor pays all funeral expenses for Uvalde shooting victims

UVALDE, Texas (KABB) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Friday that an anonymous donor has paid the funeral costs for all 19 children and two adults who were killed in the Uvalde mass shooting.

"We appreciate that anonymous donor for his generosity, and we will ensure that those resources get into the right hands," he said.

The cost of all of the funeral expenses totaled about $175,000.

Gov. Abbott also briefed the public on the mental health services that will be available to those affected by the murders, free of charge.

"No family who is suffering from incalculable heartbreak at this time will have to worry about a single cost with regard to anything concerning this travesty," he said.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind one of the deadliest school shootings in US history.

More likely someone like Matthew McConaughey. Someone who made a public statement about the massacre and is also very philanthropic. Doesn't seem the Kardashians do anything without a splashy press release.

Also, the governor referred to the donor as "his" not "her" or "their."

Perhaps this will make the governor reconsider budget priorities and another, small positive may come about from this devastating tragedy. Kudos to the benefactor that gave without expectation of personal acclaim - a good deed, indeed.

Also, McConaughey was raised in Uvalde. His Mom taught at another school there and the youngest of his children is close in age to the children murdered.

When I first read about 'funerals for the victims'... I saw where funeral homes were offering to pay for them. Then yesterday, I read that someone had donated the total cost. I'm quite confused but hate to worry myself over this. I don't know what actually transpired. All I know is that it is going to trenendously help out these families with the cost of a funeral.
