In this economg, we certainly have to watch where our money 💲 is spent...

But, what have you done in the last month that has given you
the greatest joy and benefit? 🤔

I haven't been anywhere in the last month which is extremely unusual for me for May ... but aside from doing my garden and getting that all pretty-fied again for summer... the genuinely greatest joy I got just the other day was to buy splint rings that not only help ease the pain by keeping my fingers straight but also hide the ugly arthritic nodes on my fingers ...first time I've felt actual joy for anything I've bought in a long time..😊

Watching some plants grow from seeds.
Wife's spa day where she gets pampered. Out to eat several times to relieve wife from cooking <--- happy wife happy life.

I'm not keen on eating out but choosing what to eat from a menu wasn't to bad.

I don't see any ugly nodes on your fingers Hols.

My favorite activities for decades have revolved around outdoor fun and nature. I greatly value our rare, incredible blue water world. Could happily live forever here on Earth watching in fascination, studying and understanding its vast complexities, and having earth monkey fun playing in it.

That noted, it is distressing how humans in their selfish inconsiderate pursuit of endless material wealth and power in my lifetime are destroying and damaging it. Here is where 4 of us camped 2 days earlier this last Wednesday, Thursday along the West Walker River at 6650 feet within Toiyabe National Forest at the Chris Flat Campground along US395. Creatively setting up camp, lots of easy relaxed fun, eating too much food, drink, sitting in shade watching the river while talking about our lives or reading books, driving to nearby interests, a little fishing, photography, walking the shores looking at river cobble stones, driftwood, wildflowers, taking naps, and at night watching the grand universe on moonless clear nights.

With 4 people, 3 cars, 3 tents, for 2 nights, that was $48 total fees (senior Golden Eagle Pass discount) but given 450 miles total driven, spent over $100 on $5.69/gal gasoline.

Is it OA? What caused it? Do your doctors know?
It's osteoarthritis... caused by the cartilage deteriorating, then bone grows in it's place..

Here's some info from the NHS website...

As part of normal life, your joints are exposed to a constant low level of damage. In most cases, your body repairs the damage itself and you do not experience any symptoms.

But in osteoarthritis, the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones breaks down, causing pain, swelling and problems moving the joint. Bony growths can develop, and the area can become red and swollen.

The exact cause is not known, but several things are thought to increase your risk of developing osteoarthritis, including:

  • joint injury – overusing your joint when it has not had enough time to heal after an injury or operation
  • other conditions (secondary arthritis) – osteoarthritis can happen in joints severely damaged by a previous or existing condition, such as rheumatoid arthritis or gout
  • age – your risk of developing the condition increases as you get older.
  • family history – osteoarthritis may run in families, although studies have not identified a single gene responsible
  • obesity – being obese puts excess strain on your joints, particularly those that bear most of your weight, such as your knees and hips
  • being a woman – osteoarthristis is more common in women than men.

I bought my son and his fiance plane tickets so they can come visit for the first week in July. He lives across the country and I don't get to see him as much as I would like.
I did the same thing a few years ago for my Daughter. She didn't need to have her flights paid for necessarily, but for her birthday I bought her 3 open return flight tickets to use whenever she wanted ..and she used 2 to travel back and forth on business and the 3rd to come and spend Christmas here , when it's a notoriously expensive time

easy question, baby sitting for our 5 month old granddaughter for the past week. Second place - spending time with our virtual grandkids, we volunteer as martial arts therapist teaching children how to meditate and use techniques to manage pain, fear and anxiety. Distant third, playing my guitar.

Lots of lovely moments during the past month.

DH & I went "glamping" at a San Diego area beach in our 32' 5th wheel RV where we spent time with a very dear friend. We hosted a couple of gatherings here at home with all of our children and their families, and regularly babysat our 5 month old grandson. I also enjoyed a long overdue lunch date with a dear friend, and am helping DH prep the pool for summer.

May was a pretty good month.

I don't cook. That explains why I found this onion that sprouted in my fridge. It had big green narrows leaves. So, what the heck, I planted it in my lawn. It grew a lot taller and is firmly rooted. Outside of eating onions, I don't know anything about onions, Like how you harvest them, or how tall they grow. It's cool, watching my onion, or as that French chef used to say, "unyon". I call it my "crops". Makes me happy.
