Hey everybody … from Texas

Hi Jean , no we don't actually have a Book club on this forum, but you'd be very welcome to start one...

Hi Jean, welcome to the forum. I'm a refugee from Usenet, and fairly new here myself. I have relatives in San Antonio, and more building a house there. I used to get out to Houston on business and was just blown away by the beautiful mansions (mansions by California standards) in Sugarland. I see prices have gone up substantially -- probably driven there by an influx of Californians. Just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if those Californians aren't too popular in parts of Texas. (-8

We are getting used to the California folks … we don’t have a choice. Yes, the influx has driven real estate up significantly. Texas is a nice place to live if you don’t mind the heat. I grew up near D.C., so the heat took some getting used to.

My daughter recently sold her home a few miles north of San Francisco and moved to Boise. Californians, particularly of the LA variety, are none too popular there either, but are apparently better accepted if they get Oregon plates on their car before the move. I guess we will just stay put.

Mine is 2 years. She’s a handful!

How did you insert the attachment? The icons I’m clicking on for a GIF file are all asking for an Internet address.
The image is from my computer. When replying or making a post you will see letters and symbols above the section where you type and insert images etc.
Hover your mouse over them and it will indicate what they are. The image insert is the square click on it and you can download image from your computer or drag and drop into your post

Thank you. That’s the process I was doing but it’s not working. I’ll keep trying … maybe because I’m new, I can’t post pics? Anyway, I appreciate your response.

Welcome, @Jean Lambert! I'm also a transplant from the DC area!

BTW, I also didn't know how to add photos. But I discovered the Media button between the URL link and quotation marks. If you click on that, it will give you sites you can choose your pictures from, like Flickr, Pinterest, etc. Find the picture you want and add its link to the url section of the popup box. I did that and got this welcome sign. I hope that helped!

Meanwhile, for the book club, we don't have an official one here as @hollydolly said (although we do have a few authors and poets). Feel free to start a thread and we'll go from there! :)
