Message from Frank

Frank is walking and smiling today! He had the nurses and technicians laughing all morning, meaning he’s back to normal! Pain is well under control with morphine but they are tapering him off and replacing it with his usual medications.

He had a CT scan this morning and they will do an MRI this afternoon. The technician said it looks like Frank has a small benign tumor very low on his spine that looks like it is inside spinal column and touching it. He said such tumors are not uncommon and treatable without surgery. He said the specialist knows a lot more than he does, so we shouldn't worry while we wait for the final results. Is he kidding?! I will worry! It would be better for me if the techs would keep their thoughts to themselves.

Before Frank and I married he warned me multiple times that the time may come when I am more nurse than wife because of our age difference. I am looking at this event as a sample of what that could be like and it doesn’t change a thing. I love my husband with all my heart, and ANY time he needs me to be “more nurse than wife” I won’t hesitate. If the shoe was on the other foot, he wouldn't.

Thank you to everyone for the wonderful comments. Frank's nurse said I can take his phone to him today so he can go online. He can only use it in the cafeteria and outside. Well, if he uses it outside he will want to smoke, and I was told not to bring him cigarettes. I did not have to be told. He hasn't asked for them, and I wouldn't take him any if he did!

I will tell Frank he can go online after 7pm.

He might be discharged tomorrow morning, so said his nurse. I'm so glad!

Michelle

That is great news, Michelle. We know that you are there for Frank through thick and thin. The love he has for you comes through in the words he writes. It's obvious that you two are meant for one another. It's good that the tumour is treatable without surgery.

I've been waiting all day to hear from you. Take care.

He's lucky to have you by his side, Michelle. You're no doubt his inspiration to get better. :)

Thanks for sharing the good news, Michelle.

I quit smoking almost a year ago. Was not easy, thought I could not do it. Seems I have done it, I still think about it but I know I will not go back to it.

Go buy a locket or a little double sided frame that you can put a picture in. Place you photo on one side and Paxton on the other. This will give him something to touch that is important when he wants to smoke. Have him calculate how much money he wastes that could be saved for your home. Point out the benefits to his health, I had to have a hip replacement from smoking, it effects the blood flow to everything in your body and bones/joints suffer.

He needs to stop and anyone on here reading needs to stop. I have banked about $3500 this year from not smoking. That's a lot of money over your retirement!
