She Got Within 10 Feet of Yellowstone Bison, With Horrifying End

I'll give her a pass. I was still doing stupid things when I was 25 y/o because I thought I was invincible and didn't know a lot about the world around me. And there was not even pressure to get the perfect picture on Instagram at the time. May she rest in peace.
 

I am sorry the lady got killled, but she should have kept away from a wild animal, very stupid act on her part. I've seen and heard of similar events in other countries and can't understand the mentality.

I am 61. I am hoping some day, I will stop doing stupid things. But I don't hold out high hopes that that is in my future.

An interesting fact about Yellowstone is there seems to be a portion of the park that due to a constitutional loophole has no clear legal authority, and it might be possible to get away with murder. It is the part of the park that lies in Idaho. Federal, not State law applies in Yellowstone, and the Constitution requires that juries in Federal criminal cases must be made up of citizens who are from both the district and state where the crime was committed. Problem is no one lives in the Idaho section of the park, so it would not be possible to make up a jury for a crime committed there. Don't think it has been tested yet.

A huge animal with hooves and horns is not a warm fuzzy Disney character that's going to break into a song and a little dance. It's regrettable, but inevitable, the attack occurred. Since the animal was provoked, I hope they didn't shoot it. Some think that animals can recognize their " inner human goodness". They don't realize that animals understand that we are predators. We have two front facing eyes, and show teeth- the same as cats, dogs and all other predators.

Unbelievable! I don't understand why people put themselves in harms way. Like someone said..maybe she was trying to get that perfect picture. Maybe it's to impress friends. SMH. May she R.I.P.

Quite interesting to say the least, never heard of it! Such technical defect would not abate/prohibit a Murder charge though. Too many legal theories would render that moot.

I think people get the wrong ideas from things like this:
 
It's the same in the safari parks....people see the lions lazing under a tree, looking docile and cuddly. But they can move like a flash if you are stupid enough to get out of your car.
What a horrible way to die....a pity this woman won't live to learn from her mistake.
 
@win231 is correct. Some people simply cannot distinguish reality from TV/ videos.
close encounters like in post #38 are trained animals most likely raised from birth and NOT wild animals.
Honestly how many trainers who work in zoos / parks suddenly attacked by animals they have dealt with for years.... people should Always assume they an animal might attack.

And the Siegfried & Roy show (which I've seen) can make some people think a tame lion is just a bigger version of a house cat, so "why can't they do the same thing?"
When I was around 20, an attraction at the MGM in Las Vegas was "Take a photo with the actual MGM Lion."
The lion is in a glass enclosure & the photo will look like you're just standing next to him. The chain around the lion is hidden.
The animal keeper had lots of scarring from stitches on both arms & I asked him if the lion did that.
He said, "Yes." I asked him, "Isn't he tame?"
He said, "Well, sort of. A wild animal can never be completely tame like a domesticated animal; they can only become more "Tolerant" of people so he won't just rip someone apart instinctively. And if he's not in a good mood, he can hurt you; that's how I got these scars. And they can't be predictable 100% of the time. And they can do something bad to you, & by the time they regret it, you can bleed to death."
I chatted with him about my pet Boa Constrictor - 12 ft with 80 large razor-sharp teeth & more strength than any human. I always handled him & he never showed any aggression.
He said, "A snake is also a wild animal that can't be totally domesticated but can be more tolerant of handling & even learn to like people - they like to climb & if they have a friendly personality, they will treat people just like a tree & enjoy climbing all over them."

I believe it was Roy that was attacked and ended his career....
