Mail for former house owner

I just happened to look in the mailbox at my new home yesterday. There was a red envelope, looked like a greeting card with the former owner's name on it. I put it back and sent her an email. She said she'd pick it up that afternoon. It was till there today. I hate to nag her - she is going through some tough times right now. What should I do?

Well, one day is not a big deal; she just couldn't make it.
And I thought I was impatient!
Have you thought about switching to decaf? šŸ˜‚

Nice of you to do that. I usually look at it and when I see junk throw it away. Anything that looks like something they might want I mark the envelope "not at this address, please forward" and remail.

Exactly!!!!! Do not bother the woman, or expect her to come running over to get it. If the woman had any sense, she would have a mail forwarding notice give to the Post Office. However, some things slip through.

I left it in the roadside mailbox since I am only at the new house when I bring a carload there - I'm still getting my mail at the post office. I just checked that one to make sure there wasn't anything in it - but there was. I am also getting flyers from a heating oil company that borders on harassment - two doorknob hangers and one in the mailbox.

I am still receiving mail addressed to the former owners of my house. I spoke to the clerk at the post office weeks ago about this. He said he'd put a stop on their mail. I guess that didn't work.

It's been 8 years but I still get mail occasionally for my ex. So I write "Unknown-Return to Sender" and stick it back in the mailbox.

Every year we receive an annual tax form for the previous owner. I used to forward it to her business, thinking that she would update her address with the company that sends it. Evidently she hasn't. This year I wrote, "Return to sender. Addressee moved away 18 years ago" on the envelop. I'm laying odds on whether we receive it again next year.
