Singapore is selling beer made from recycled sewage water to help alleviate water scarcity crisis.

Claimed to be one of Singapore’s greenest beers, the alcoholic beverage label, called NewBrew, uses recycled sewage water that is pumped and filtered from the country’s water supply. Due to Singapore’s water scarcity problem, NewBrew turned to sewage water as a way to address the rising threat of water shortages due to climate change and preserve the valuable supply of safe drinking water.

I thought we were all drinking recycled water anyway. Waste water is taken to a sewage treatment centre, purified and put back into the system. All the water on the Earth is the same water constantly being recycled.

The water that comes out of drinking fountains in many of our area cities and towns is Awful. Between the taste of excessive amounts of chorine, and the ancient lead pipes carrying it, the taste is almost nasty. The rivers flowing through the area, which many municipalities use as their source, are brown and filled with agricultural runoff, fertilizer, and pesticides, etc.
We have excellent well water, and when we leave the house for more than a quick run to the store, we pack a small cooler with a couple of bottles of our water, and drink it instead of the recycled sewage that suffices for most municipal water.

Evidently this is nothing new.

"As the “Toilet to Tap” craze continues to grow in the U.S., one of the country’s largest beer brewers confirmed this week what many have suspected for decades – their signature beer is brewed with raw sewage."

“Using wastewater to brew beer isn’t a fad,” said Budweiser CEO August Busch III in an interview with NPR this week. “It’s been our key ingredient in Bud Light for 25 years!”

They have a beer in Singapore called Tiger. Darn good beer if you ask me.
I was in Singapore and drank Tiger beer. I thought it was very good. Kind of reminded me of Corona.
