This is what $70 worth of groceries looks like these days

Yup, and it's only going to get worse....especially if these fuel prices continue to stay so high. Virtually Everything we buy is affected by the cost of fuel...from manufacturing to delivery. Fewer and fewer farmers are planting crops this year, due to the high cost of diesel, and that is going to result in a substantial food shortage on many items in coming months....which will drive grocery prices even higher.

I remember when I was a kid, we'd go to a military base that had a commissary that sold groceries as well as other things (my Dad was a Marine). My parents would spend about $100 which seemed like such a huge sum of money (and it was back then) but we filled the back of a station wagon with all of the bags of food (brown grocery bags, btw). Now, to spend $100 is nothing. Terrible how times have changed.

we had the same when we lived on the Naval Bases, we had stores that only we as military personel could use .. they're called N.A.A.F.I ..
 
I only buy items when they are on special now. Plus those that are about to expire and can be frozen are sometimes 80% off the original price.
Some items I have stopped buying. I refuse to pay exorbitant prices. I used to buy pre-packaged coleslaws and pasta salads. The small ones were $3, now they have gone to $5.50, stopped buying them.
 
My weekly grocery store run to shop for Ron and me costs around $150. That’s a week’s good worth of groceries for two people cooking most everything from scratch.

It doesn’t include household items like paper towels and toilet paper, laundry soap and dishwasher detergent. We get that from Costco in bulk.

Sorry to use this cliche' = It's always darkest before the dawn.

But since it has been getting darker and darker every day for years, and will continue to do so,
remember it is or has been necessary, to hang on, don't give up, because the end is getting closer.

We all who survive or live through all this must realize we have to go through all this to get to the next 'cycle' = true justice, final justice, finally, the end of this life, and a new life to start without any pain nor sorrow ever again for those who believe.

There will maybe be a seeming relief, a respite, a time when "peace, peace" "all is well"
when a world power or figure or system
offers common money to everyone - just go along with the system and "we will give you" x-thousand dollars every month.

This will be complete deception, though, or of course, before the end comes.

People are struggling or going without groceries needed for a week or a month,
while the rich are paying twice as much, up to maybe ten times as much, for property with or without a house or building on it. What was twenty thousand a few years ago is over a hundred thousand today, and "they" say it is okay ... all the property practically has been priced out of range for those who are poor, even to rent something, and the rich say that is okay, that is 'good business', and they will be judged severely for that oppression soon, when the Messiah returns.

It is what it is for now, we have had these issues in the past, we will cope, and then it will happen again in the future. Each person needs to think of what they need to do to get thru the current crisis.

That is what I have been doing for quite a while. Know you needs and your wants. What you have to pay for everything, make a budget, be prepared to adjust to increases. I can cut back more if needed. No I don't like it but I have more things I can cut if needed. I lived with much less before, I can do it again.

Truckers will soon be parking their rigs as fuel continue to rise. I saw one owner who had 3 trucks and was paying $20,000 a month to fill them!!!!
