This is what $70 worth of groceries looks like these days

It is what it is for now, we have had these issues in the past, we will cope, and then it will happen again in the future. Each person needs to think of what they need to do to get thru the current crisis.

That is what I have been doing for quite a while. Know you needs and your wants. What you have to pay for everything, make a budget, be prepared to adjust to increases. I can cut back more if needed. No I don't like it but I have more things I can cut if needed. I lived with much less before, I can do it again.
Me too!

Its not corporate greed, people. Inflation has always been defined as too much money chasing too few goods. When government spends more money than it gets thru taxation, it simply runs the printing press, and bingo! Inflation. When oil leases are canceled, when drilling is prohibited, when building new refineries is discouraged, then you get high gas prices, which raises the price of everything. More inflation.

And this one of the reasons why I love shopping at Costco. To me, nothing beats their TP. I panicked when they were out of their own brand (Kirkland) for 6 months! So I tried Charmin's 30 bundle pack. Charmin cost about $4 more than Kirkland's 30 bundle but Kirkland's lasts a month longer. Yes, I do keep track of these things. Just bought a Kirkland bundle and it went up about $1.80 to $18.79. So far I've averaged $21 more a month than last year this time but since much of it is from stocking up, I don't expect to spend as much each month going forward.

I’m beginning to understand how some seniors slip into the tea & toast syndrome.

I marvel at the new higher prices and refuse to pay them.

I just don’t see a value or bang for the bucks.

Meals are gradually becoming a bowl of oatmeal or a banana and a glass of milk, a slice of toast and a hard cooked egg, etc…

The good news is that things will eventually straighten out and we’ll adjust. The bad news is that it may take a year or two.

Here is about $51.00 dollars at WINCO Foods today. Included in the price but not pictured, two 8 packs of Bubly soda. This is not a real healthy lot. The veggie straws are individual size. I bought them for work this weekend. They had Smart Dogs at least!

The thread about potato salad had me buy red potatoes and I've already cooked them.

I spent $91.01 with cat food for the ferals, 10 Fancy Feast, 20 pounds of litter, a 4 pack of TP and tax. Cat was "free."

The trouble is , when people are on a fixed income after retirement and no increases there's no room for being able to afford these prices, so tea and toast or oatmeal it's going to be for many for ever more

we are learning about all the wild edibles right here on our property....they have more vitamins and nutrition than store bought foods...we will be drying and preserving the bounty...
