Where Is The Forum For Politics?

I'm trying to find out something about the new Forward Party formed in the U.S. It is much in the news but probably won't be allowed as a news item in this forum. Every time I try to Google it, a message pops up and says no secure connection. I wonder what others have found.

are you using google search on your pc or off this site? i see several off my google search but it's not on the google search on here. senior forums doesn't have any political threads as they're not allowed here. just an fyi in case you didn't know.

The "Secure Connection thing", is controlled by your Browser,
if it is Google then you go there and check connections, the
same applies to any browser, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, etc., etc.

You need to go to whichever one that you use and check the
settings, or the connection settings, sorry I can't advise you
any better than this.

It might be your computer settings, if you get the message on
everything that you put up.

Mike.

Tell us what browser you are using can then advise??
First of all, what is a “secure connection” exactly? Essentially, it’s a connection to a website that uses HTTPS rather than HTTP. Most browsers display these sites with a padlock icon in the address bar to indicate that the connection is secure.

Are you talking about the Forward Party? Supposedly it's made up of politicians from both parties that consider themselves as centrists or middle of the road. Like everything else, good intentions usually don't pan out as they hope it will. EOM

Thanks for the link but when I put it in my browser the same No Secure Connection message comes up. ???
This may be an issue with whatever device and Protection Service you have installed, like Norton, TrendScan etc. I have TrendScan on my desktop and i often get that with newer sites---but not on Kindle, which i don't worry about as much because i do not use anything other than social media, Games and the occasional fact check search.
If i didnt have such a busy morning today and tomorrow i'd go try it on desk top and see.

I don't want to get "political", but I don't think a party, which its claim to fame is that they aren't really Democrats or Republicans is all that viable. But, I also said Netscape was a lot better than Google-that's a dumb name- Google-it'll never fly.

Also, i noticed they are a merging of 3 different PAC type groups which i'd want to look at each of them individually if possible, then stated purpose of the new 'umbrella' group.

I've long thought we need a third party, but as you say not very viable right now. If they won some local and state level positions and served public well, maybe in a decade.

They don't have many specifics under their party platform other than advocacy for ranked choice voting, which is a good reform and would probably be supported by the majority of Americans -- or at least those who bothered to learn how it works. I'm not sure that's enough of a platform to get anyone enthusiastic about their party, though.

We have at least five parties that can nominate a presidential candidate.

Maybe so but clearly voters not terribly impressed with them. I guess i should have been more clear: Party that attracts enough of a following to gain ground with each election, gains some seats in both houses of congress and reminds elected officials they meed to be responsive to people.

Last i'll say here because not sure where the boundry between abstract political theory and discussing specific politics woild be drawn by Admins.

The more parties there are, the more thinly votes are spread. It's good to have alternative thinking but when it comes to the elections, candidates should only stand if they have a good chance of being elected.

Ranked choice voting would make third party candidates more viable, and that's something the Forward Party is advocating for... really the only specific thing they're advocating for.

The Forward Party claims to be neither right-wing nor left-wing. Ranked choice voting would strengthen our democracy, but democracy is a left-wing system for choosing someone to govern while a dictatorship is a right-wing method, so to say they're not left-wing or right-wing is erroneous.
