Maybe, maybe not.
The new information came from her "Rep," not the medical personnel who are treating her. Her Rep also stated, "We're not sure who was driving the car." Her Rep may be doing what he's paid to do - protect her reputation & minimize the criminal charges that may follow.
And the more sympathy he can create, the less she may be charged with & the more sympathy she'll get from any potential jurors.

You may recall when O.J. Simpson fled from arrest & Gil Garcetti stated "O.J. Simpson is a fugitive from justice right now." Then when he turned himself in to police, his first attorney - Robert Shapiro announced "Doctors suspect O.J. is very ill & they have removed a Lymph Node," hinting that he may have cancer or a serious infection. Same B.S. - to create sympathy for him from the public & any potential jurors.
