This is strictly a first world issue.
Likely most of us grew up with one bathroom in our house. It was the rare house that had more. Some didn’t even have one inside. We managed and some came from large families. Nowadays people don’t seem to think they can function without at least two if there’re more than two people in the house. That includes me.
DH was repairing the toilet in the main bathroom (he uses it as his) and we realized this would be an inconvenience if he had to tear things apart and replace it. If we only had one bathroom, this would be a nightmare, worse if he couldn’t do the repairs himself. We have a third bathroom downstairs that’s used by house guests.
So my answer to my question is 3 bathrooms for 2 people.
