Is anyone else bothered by paperless billing

I will resist and fight to the bloody end. Paperless billing means that it's less likely that you'll discover the small, additional charges they like to sneak in. Auto pay? Never! I like having control over my funds, auto pay is only convenient for the payee, a nightmare for the payor.

Not at all bothered by paperless billing ... a lot less work for me.

Guess I'm in the minority here ... but the few monthly bills I have, are all handled paperless, and have been that way for years.
Never had any problems with my bank account. It checks out fine every month - Never any added fees.

Also, records of all transactions are available thru the bank if ever needed. They save files for years.

I just don't care to receive anything financial through the Post Office .. . and dealing with bills and due dates seems so unnecessary when it doesn't have to be that way.

I was an accountant for years in my working days, and it's a relief to retire from that in my personal life too.;)

i got tired of having to buy checks and stamps and having to worry about whether or not i remembered to pay them. sometimes i couldn't get out to pay them due to the weather. i've gone paperless and have autopay. i've had no issues to date.

I actually follow and pay most of my bills “paperless” on the tablet. I only have one automatic payment, for my cell phone & that was because I got a little discount to do that.
BUT I don’t want to switch to paperless for anything I want to keep longer term records on BECAUSE a few years ago my then laptop was plugged into the wall and there was a massive surge and circuit breaker failure that dissolved and erased everything in it. Took it to the best computer place and nothing was recoverable.
Got another used laptop but mainly use it for anything I might want to print. That’s me-paper addict.

i figure i have all the phone numbers for the physical buildings so if something happens online i can call them and still pay my bill. i was doing autopay for my internet and now they have just assigned me a paperless acct. whether i want it or not. so, whatever. i just keep an eye on the charges each month.

I love paperless billing. I do not use auto payments though. I keep my budget sheet nearby and when I pay bills I cross each one off after it has shown up on my credit union account that I paid it. I always write them out on my calendar before the month starts so I always see them and what is the due date. All I get in my mailbox is junk mail and I receive an email daily from the post office to show me what is coming that day. If it is junk mail I do not even go downstairs to get it.

same here as for the snail mail.

That is one of the reasons that I upgraded to an iPhone.

It provides a backup to my computer and allows access to my accounts when I'm away from home.

I use that service too!

It saves me trudging up and down the stairs every day to check the mail and it alerts me if something was misdirected.

It seems that the less mail I receive the more often it ends up in someone else's mailbox.

I have used paperless billing for years along with Direct Debit,
to pay the bills, the only downside is that you don't get notice
of any changes to your bill, for whatever reason, if you are like
me, you trust everybody, till they do you wrong, that is a problem,
so now I check the outgoing from my bank and the bills all the
time, it is no problem, but in the past I have been stung!

I did get the money back.

Mike.

Like some above, I have been mostly paperless for many years. The only paper bills I still get are annual auto registration and property taxes.

I like to travel so auto payments make life much easier. I'm gone sometimes for weeks overlapping payment periods, so paper bills and writing checks would be a nightmare.

I'm automated. I used to be a paper keeper. When I moved into my forever home in 1992, It was hard for me, but I had to throw out telephone bills that I had been collecting since 1972. But I began to wonder why I had drawer after drawer with old receipts, when everything's online. If I wanted to know if, or what I paid, there it was. Also, I got hauled off in an ambulance for long hospital stay, everything was automatic, so everything got paid. If I were relying on snail mail to get and send bills, none of them would have gotten paid-ruining my credit. I think most of the bugs in online banking are behind us.

I have never had a problem with paperless billing. I was so tired of the paper piling up. My bills are paid on time and I receive an email notice when it is due. My only problem with a new changeover (capital one changed to CIBC mc for Costco) is sometimes I have trouble reading the website but I am learning. Some utilities go through the bank and some charges are on the mastercard.

i totally agree

I use paperless billing at every opportunity. It might save a few trees and water sources also. I still get a lot of junk mail in the mailbox though. I shred it, soak it in water and let it dry under pressure. It works pretty good in the wood stove for heating the house.

I hate it. Most recently I was auto renewed and billed for a service I had cancelled a month before because it was expensive, unnecessary, and I needed to save money. I went to their webpage to cancel and filled out a lengthy cancellation questionnaire. THEN THEY BILLED ME FOR ANOTHER YEAR ANYWAY! I am so furious. I had to pay them with Paypal because they had no other options and PP takes forever to resolve an issue but I did tell PP what had been done and I had already cancelled my service. If PP doesn't help, I'll have to go to my bank and get them on unauthorized use which is what this boils down to now.

One of my utility companies never lets me into account because they always say my email addy and password do not match. They do! 😖

I have been a beginner at using computers for about 25 years, I don't want my $$$ tied up in that mess.

They give me a mental picture of a rest room with an empty roll.

I get paper bills in the mail because if something happened to me, my husband would never know who or when to pay anything. I could go auto pay, but like others here, I don't like companies having their hands in my pocket. But I do pay bills on line because once when I paid the mortgage by mail, it got lost, and I had to pay a late fee. It was found 2 months later at the post office behind a desk. Plus, stamps are getting ridiculously expensive.

the only bill i can't pay online is my credit card bill. we had a new company take over and i got my new card and set up my acct. online with a password and a special question with a specific answer. first time i tried to log in the question didn't match the answer. it had been changed. i called their IT dept and they were of no use. i asked the guy how they can have a website for this crap and not be able to help people when stuff like that happens.

well i tried again to schedule a payment ...
got the same message they were having issues......... try again later etc etc....
Low and behold 3 hours later i get an email saying thank you for scheduling payment ... so it DID go through...... even though their site said it did not......
Completely awful service and website....

That's lousy but it's so much worse when there is NO ONE to call for help in such circumstances. This is the position I find myself in frequently.

Totally paperless and mostly autopay for everything. The only thing that isn’t autopay is one store credit card. The invoice comes online and is hard to read. I write one cheque per month. Our community mail box has been broken into twice over the years. I had to watch everything for weeks in case something significant was stolen.

I have one credit card, and I pay everything online with it. That way, if there is a problem, the credit card company will take care of it.
