Is anyone else bothered by paperless billing

Slightly off topic, but a pfishing warning. We just got a notice supposedly from the Geek Squad that they have autorenewed our subscription for $419.
We never signed up for it and the e-mail was from someone else. The text said if this is not correct, call this number.
What they want you to do is call and give them your banking info. NO WAY!

I automated payments and deposits a few years a go with no problems.

Most companies send an advanced notice of upcoming payments and a confirmation or receipt of the actual payment.

The only website that’s down from time to time is Consumer Cellular, to check my remaining data.

IMO the automated payments have less risk than entering data on each account each month to make individual payments.
Yup

I have auto everything for utilities, income, mortgages and Amazon

and I love it!

No issues

Quick
Easy

I'm rather OCD on keeping my register current

However, I don't even use a debit card online for unusual stuff
I'll write a check, or, if I have to, I'll use a limited credit card.

I have never had a problem with paperless billing. I was so tired of the paper piling up. My bills are paid on time and I receive an email notice when it is due. My only problem with a new changeover (capital one changed to CIBC mc for Costco) is sometimes I have trouble reading the website but I am learning. Some utilities go through the bank and some charges are on the mastercard.
Do you get your CPP and Old Age payments on line ? I do. And I just looked at my CIBC cheque book, and found that the last cheque I wrote was back in 2014. My Wife was a CPA for about 40 years until she retired in 2013, so she keeps a close eye on the household spread sheet, weekly. JimB.

When I first started paperless, in 2016, when I moved to town, I was somewhat unsettled about the paperless way…..now I’m used to it, and I do like it.
But…..
I still have paper statements on my Mastercard and Visa…..I’m more comfortable that way with those.

The only paperless billing I have is for my cell phone. Utilities usually don't go to paperless billing unless the customer says that it is okay. They are always asking you, especially when you get you bill. I usually just send them a check. I like to be in control when I send out my payment, and what time of the month it is cashed and taken from my account.

They both go right into my bank account at the end of the month.

I do NOT have an issue with it ......i just believe places who rely on paperless only has the DUTY to not have their site crash every other day.
Have had double payments show up as the WEBSITE said" did not go through please try later"
then BAM it did go through i did not have to pay for 2 months.
It was fine since i have that kind of floating my account ................. but for some people that may cause an overdraft or something .....

And some companies may find it hard to believe, but there are still a few out there not on the internet.

I don't have a smart phone and that's enough of an anomaly these days.

I'm not bothered at all by paperless billing. I actually called my alarm monitoring company a couple of years ago to ask why they didn't offer it. They do now offer it. Every company I deal with, including utilities, sends me emails notifying me of any bill that is due. I pay them online with the click of a button.

I don't check my mail for several days at a time because it is all junk with the exception of Social Security notifications, vehicle registration renewals and jury duty summons. We have a community mailbox for a small group of houses that was breached several months ago, so IMO paper bills are no more secure than electronic ones.

I pay every bill I can electronically via my Chase Freedom card and earn points or cash back on every one. I just redeemed 4 Kroger gift cards @ $50 each in exchange for my purchases. I have been doing some "power shopping" at Kroger!

No paperless bills for me.
And for scams , I love the fact that the head of the FBI wants to give me over a million bucks for free. I read 'em laugh and delete 'em.

Yes we have the same deal with direct deposit of our Government pension cheques, and our private pensions from employment contributions, and our investment program. I don't have any credit cards, just a CIBC debit card. I don't carry more than 10 dollars in my pocket. JimB.
