TX woman arrested after racist rant

So, I have trouble understanding this type of hate. What do you think is at the bottom of it? Is it fear? Ignorance?
Some of both, but I think we do have an instinct not to trust what we don't understand. However having a feeling, instinctive or not, is no reason to act on it. What matters more than those feelings is what we do. We have control over our behavior, even if not always our feelings...

Walking away...that's something i'd have to decide on case by case basis. Some such folks would see it as weakness and have no problem attacking you from behind. No thank you will not expose myself to that unless i have some reason to believe they are all bluster.

This sort of behavior is an accepted part of the new culture in America. Not by everyone of course, but a growing faction legitimizes it to a large extent. Maybe it has always been here.
Which is surprising given that The USA has always been known for it's welcoming arms to other Nations.. ( maybe not Mexicans)..

In the Uk and smaller nations than the USA people tend to get xenophobic because of what is perceived to be the lack of jobs and homes for the indigenous people

.. so, anger is often at the forefront of Racist attacks..

I wouldn't presume to know what may be causing these same attacks in a huge country like the USA..

Even the Native Americans came here from Asia, much more recently than you ancestors likely got to the British isles.

We need to do our best to put all that aside, should not matter where we or our ancestors came from. What matters is how we act and treat people today!
New studies as well as footprints in NM suggest they've been here much longer than has been supposed, but in case they were here first, so later arrivals screaming 'go back where you came from as some AZ residents did with Native American Politician there is to say the least ignorant.

i have trouble understanding any kind of hate. i don't even hate people who have done me grievous harm. i cut them out of my life, if legal consequences called for (like the restraining order i took out against my #3 ex hubby for stalking me 7 yrs post divorce) i apply them.

But hate? i won't waste energy on it. And yes usually it is fueled by fear, most unprovoked angry words and deeds usually are also fear motivated tho those screaming or attacking may not realize it themselves.

The woman in the video was too stupid to even figure out where these women were from! ... so telling them to "go back" isn't something she would ever understand.
We have many East Indians in the Houston area too... they come from Asia/India.
And like @dseag2 said, their contributions to science and medicine are many.

I somehow doubt it.. my ancestors first arrived here in 12,000 BC
I looked it up and by some interpretations you are right.

Apparently the first humans in Britain were the Neanderthals, about 900,000 years ago, and all peoples of European extraction have some Neanderthal ancestors and genes. However humans were in and out of what is today the British Isles depending on ice and climate.

Modern humans arrived, when Britain again became inhabitable, after the last ice age, as you say about 12,000 BC, give or take a few thousand years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prehistoric_Britain Roughly the same time as the first humans, our Native American's ancestors, got to the Americas.

Not that any of this should have any effect on how we treat each other!

I'm never wrong.... :p:LOL:

Yes, when my mother was in hospice in assisted living some of the East Indian and Filipino staff were delightful. When she passed away, they all hugged me as I left the facility. My husband of 30+ years is Filipino, so I know how wonderful they are. And yes, they appreciate their citizenship, unlike those entitled moron insurrectionists.
If you and your husband go to see Jo Koy's movie 'Easter Sunday', i'd love to have his and your take on it. I haven't seen it...just clips on YouTube. i enjoy Koy's stand up routines and i've known known some Fillipinos over the years.

i'm always happy to see any culture that resides in same country with me get representation in the media, but i do like to hear from members of that group if they feel it's a fair and accurate portrayal. i considered paying for one premiums service to see the Series 'Dark Wind' loosely based on Tony Hillerman's books/characters. But the Navajo Times called it out for inaccuracies...so i didn't bother.

About hate crime laws: let's not get all confused- nobody's trying to interfere with your god-given right to hate, it's buried deep in you heart so nobody even knows. But, when you act on that hate and lash out at your intended target for hate, that is when it becomes a crime.
"Lashing out," has always been a crime and most, "lashing out" was probably always motivated by hate.

The only thing that's changed is that now if you assault certain people you will be punished more harshly than if you assault certain other people. Like in old England when punching a peasant meant a night in jail and punching an aristocrat meant a hanging. Somebody mugs me it will be X amount of jail time. Someone mugs another person it will be X amount of time plus some more time because of who they are.

Two Arabs boarded a flight out of London. One took a window seat & the other sat next to him in the middle seat. Just before takeoff, an American sat down in the aisle seat.
After takeoff, the American kicked his shoes off, wiggled his toes & was settling in when the Arab in the window seat said, "I need to get up & get a coke."
"Don't get up," said the American. "I'm in the aisle seat. I'll get it for you."
As soon as he left, one of the Arabs picked up the American's shoe & spat in it several times. When the American returned with the coke, the other Arab said, "That looks good. I'd like a coke too."
Again, the American obligingly went to get it. While he was gone, the other Arab picked up his other shoe & spat in it several times.
When the American returned, they all sat back & enjoyed the flight. As the plane was landing, the American slipped his feet into his shoes & knew immediately what had happened.
"Why does it have to be this way?" he asked.
"How long must this go on - this fighting between our nations?
This hatred?
This animosity?
This spitting in shoes and pissing in cokes?"

Well aside from what used to be called Red Indians ( Native Americans).. I didn't think there was any such thing as a native American.. after all.. all we hear is them proclaiming that they're Irish American.. German American.. African American... and in this woman's case Mexican American... The irony isn't lost..
Archaeology is proving that, in fact, the 'Red Indians' were not the first settlers in the land which is now known as America. It seems Europeans arrived first, so yes, 'native Americans' seems to apply to no one race of people.

Nope, not Europeans. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/247747#1
Native Americans originated in Asia, and were here long before Europeans.

When did Indians come to America?

The ancestors of living Native Americans arrived in what is now the United States at least 15,000 years ago, possibly much earlier, from Asia via Beringia.

Where does Native American DNA come from?

Previous genetic work had suggested the ancestors of Native Americans split from Siberians and East Asians about 25,000 years ago, perhaps when they entered the now mostly drowned landmass of Beringia, which bridged the Russian Far East and North America.
Ancient DNA confirms Native Americans' deep roots in North and South America

You know, this is only one of numerous examples of "research/studies/etc. are showing.." (various things) that was widespread knowledge decades ago. As for this specific topic, I learned about it in high school.
