Bussing illegal immigrants

The compassionate people of Martha’s Vineyard called out the national guard — yes, really — and compassionately rehomed the immigrants on the mainland. No word if any of that money actually reached an immigrant.

Sunny, you have no idea what it’s like down here. People in border towns come home to find their homes broken into, food gone, clothing stolen, and even their pets missing. Never mind how much fentanyl and cocaine is coming across with the immigrants. It’s a big mess that’s costing lives.

This is nothing more than what the federal government has done, only without the attention, and in the middle of the night. So I’m all in favor of spreading the pain.
I just posted almost the exact same thing. I have cousins on both the TX and AZ borders.

At last count, there were some 29 million illegals living in the U.S. How long are we going to allow this to continue this ?

In Mexico, the government allows thousands upon thousands of potential illegals to ride on top of railroad cars heading north. They do so to relieve overcrowding. The U.S. is not doing anywhere nearly enough to put pressure on the Mexican gov't. Over crowding, and underemployment is a MEXICAN problem. Yet WE are paying the price.
Maybe you can cook for all of them. ;)

Playing politics with human lives is about a low-life as it gets. Of course, that's par for the couse if you consider the governor's who are doing this.
I disagree. There are sanctuary cities and states that have not received any of the illegals. Why should only a few states be expected to take on the now over 2,000,000 illegal entries while other states receive none? Take a look at El Paso that receives over 1000 illegals per day. Please explain why only the southern border states and cities within those states should be expected to cover for the rest of us living without any illegals. If we are "all in this together" as one congress person put it, then we all need to do our part.

And by the way, why are we even allowing illegals into this country? And please don't say they deserve a chance at a better life. Millions of people from the southern countries and from all around the world have come to the U.S., but they did so legally. Is that really too much to ask? As it is now, we have no idea who is walking across our border.

A large number of politicians and political pundits have been telling the world that we have open borders and all sorts of entitlement programs for immigrants. Poor and oppressed people, many from central America, believe the lies which are told just to promote hatred and division in our country, and for political gain. So they come here anticipating a better life while putting an enormous strain on border patrol and law enforcement.

Obviously, we don't have "open borders." If we did, we wouldn't be apprehending all these immigrants.

Politicians should be telling the world that we're full; we can't take any more right now.

Of course, the U.S. destroyed the economies of the countries where many of the refugees are coming from. The case could be made that we owe them some assistance.
Yes, we do have "open borders. "Haven't you heard of "catch and release?" The border patrol catches them, makes them register (which is a joke) and then they are released. Even the illegals that are sent back return later.

I'm all in favor of spreading the burden and hope it can be done cooperatively by the border states and states who can offer assistance.
That would be the better thing to do. The sanctuary states should offer assistance and pay for the transportation from the border state to their state. If you want to play the role of a sanctuary state, act like one. All of the burden has been placed on our border states. That's just plain wrong.

It should be the feds that pay, not the individual states. The feds are in charge of immigration. Most importantly, we should act together as one nation.

It's one thing to bus illegal immigrants to other places, but the way it's being done is not right. Officials in those cities were not given proper notice, so it's like spite work. While I really feel for those who are crossing borders to get into this country, I also know we are not doing nearly enough for our own citizens who are living in poverty. We are not doing enough to help our own citizens who are homeless. That's a big problem.

This business of states fighting with each other reminds me of a song I learned like in third grade. The first stanza went: "There were 13 colonies, Each as jealous as can be. No one said "Hooray for You" Each one said "Hooray for Me."

I remember the whole tune, but not the words. So, seems nothing new is happening.

This whole thing is nothing more than campaign stunts of which there have been many.......do some research. these two governors are lying and tricking these people into getting on these buses...this is criminal, but no surprises there, they are corrupt, what we are seeing is the fascist trying to outdo each other.

"Open borders" is just more of their propaganda..

Record numbers of migrants are being arrested while crossing the southern U.S. border with Mexico, a sustained surge of single men and families from across Latin America either seeking asylum or work, according to new figures Monday from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Border Patrol agents have made about 1.82 million arrests at the southern border so far in the government’s fiscal year, which runs from October to the end of September. The number beats the record set last fiscal year, which was 1.66 million apprehensions in the year ending September 2021.

The drug problem in this country does not get here in the pockets of immigrants, nor are the people of Texas being inundated with Mexicans on their patios, more propaganda spread by RW, this is what they do...spread fear!
I personally know four Mexican families, they are good people that work hard and contribute to the community. Two own successful yard maintenance and tree removal businesses.

It's not political talk when illegal border crossing is being encouraged. It's about enforcing laws. It's about law and order and not politics. You the citizen, do something illegal and see how far it gets you.

Agree here as well.

I don’t know where you live. I live in Georgia. The Biden Administration flew plane loads to Georgia and Florida. The liberal sanctuary cities are NIMBYS (Not in my backyard). Now they can see what it is like for the border towns.

"I also know we are not doing nearly enough for our own citizens who are living in poverty. We are not doing enough to help our own citizens who are homeless. That's a big problem."

I couldn't agree more. On weekends, I will sometimes take long rides away from this city I live in. I get out of my 24 hour gated community that houses people who are walking around with their $1000+ miniature dog on a leash and with some being in a baby carriage, and have their nose in the air to see how the other people are living and comparing places to where I live and in general, just sight-seeing.

On this past Sunday afternoon, I drove through a section not far outside of Front Royal, Virginia where there was a row of mobile homes that appeared to me to have seen their day. They were aged, and rundown. Outside of the homes I saw some black and Latino children ages maybe 8-15 either playing or on their phone. I mean these homes were in bad condition. The yards were in need of maintenance and one or so had some kind of junk laying around outside.

I thought to myself, why is this allowed to go on? Why isn't our government doing a better job of taking care of our people? That is part of the government's job, to give people decent housing in a safe environment, if they are not able to do for themselves and which I doubt either is anywhere near the truth in these cases. I was wondering if these people were being fed properly, where they feeling safe and are they happy with their living situation. I consider myself someone that does care about others and I have to say that those images effect me in a way that I felt like stopping the car and asking them, "Are you happy with your living conditions?" Maybe they are, but it would be hard for me to believe that.

Your links are referring to arrest at point of entry in cars and trucks with 100's of pounds of drugs NOT on the backs or pockets of people that have walked a thousand miles with children to get here.

This kind of migration will continue to increase around the world as climate change makes more places uninhabitable or nearly so. Desperation sets in when people live in horrifically unsafe conditions or cannot feed and house themselves or their families.

Among other possibly helpful strategies, it's long past time for the Roman Catholic church to get on board with birth control.

That would never fly in the U.S. with our "rugged individualism." You'd get labeled a "communist" and tarred and feathered in some regions if you went around saying that the government should provide us with housing. And it begs the question: who gets government provided housing and who has to pay for their home?

Really? Which countries' economies did we destroy? I would like to know, so that I can send some reparations.

Absolutely!! However it is often not the feds that pay and the impact of illegal immigration and asylum seekers is not uniformly distributed. The result is states like Texas and Florida pay more than their fair share and have a greater impact. So while I don't like the idea of sending the immigrants to places like Washington and New York, I can understand some of the drivers behind it.

Until we can, as you say, "act together as one nation" and find a workable compromise solution things will not get better.

Wow, a brief, anonymous wikipedia article. You really brought the research this time.

The article doesn't even mention Honduras, El Salvador or Venezuela, where many of the current migrants come from. Of course, Venezuela has done a pretty good job of destroying its own economy.

These countries have histories of hundreds of years of autocracy, instability, coups, grotesquely unequal distribution of wealth, and other social pathologies. I would leave too if I lived there. The US has played a role in their histories, but so has Marxist theory, the Catholic church, climate change, racism and about a thousand other factors.

Of course if you hate the US and blame it for all the evil in the world...well, as they say, to a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

You’re wrong there. Nobody thinks a mother with four kids is smuggling drugs. But there is no doubt that it’s coming across that border in nefarious ways, and not just at “point of entry.” Hell, the whole of the southern border is a point of entry. And I notice you didn’t address the crime issues. The people in border towns are largely hispanic, and they want it to stop too.
