I'm sure this is due to better screening and treatments, but it is good news and we sure need some these days.

Cancer death rates dropped 27% in the United States from 2001 to 2020. Cancer was the second leading cause of death, after heart disease, in the United States in 2020. In 2020, there were 602,350 cancer deaths; 284,619 were among females and 317,731 among males.

This was featured on Good Morning America because Robin Roberts was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, then again in 2012. She had a bone marrow transplant and has been cancer-free for 10 years. I think she is one of the most outstanding newscasters in the business.

That’s really good news. We have lost some really good entertainers, but more importantly, friends and family members. I can’t count the number of times I received phone calls from friends telling me of a friend or family member that died from cancer.

The best news would be to hear of a cure for all cancers. According to the cancer website there are over 200 different types of cancer.

Not to be morbid, but cancer deaths will continue to drop for 2021 because Covid kills those with compromised immune systems.

Robin Roberts is an awesome human being.

Well that's good news! Do you think that part of it can also be attributed to more people practicing healthy lifestyles (eg: not smoking, eating healthier, etc.). I remember when Robin was going through her bone marrow transplant process.

Could be, although I'm not sold on people eating healthier.

Smoking is definitely down, but I agree with you on the lack of healthy eating.

Also, some public health experts predict a cancer morbidity spike because people didn't go for screenings in 2020/2021 due to fear of Covid, unavailability of doctors, etc.

I didn't think I'd hear such a report in my lifetime.
