Why Some Won't Eat Healthy

Do you think that the answer to this question could be that fruits and vegetables bought fresh are not in season most times and doesn't taste or smell freshmaking it unappealing?

Do you buy fresh fruits and vegetables? If you do are they in season? Do you buy canned fruit and vegetables?

It has a lot to do with childhood, depending on what
you had then, determines what you like today, it does
in my case, we only had seasonal fruit and veg, the
main veggies were Brassicas, which had to be cooked,
in the Summer we had salads, but they were still not
very abundant.

Fruits were similarly in short supply, we also didn't have
any refrigeration, this determined what we could have
and it all depended on the stock in the local shop, there
were no supermarkets in those days.

It depends on what you consider healthy. If you consider fruits and vegetables healthy does not mean everyone does.

What people consider "healthy" differs. Also, people have dietary concerns that limit their choices. I eat a diet that consists of whole foods from all food groups, but I limit carbs and sugar. I avoid packaged and fast foods, preservatives, artificial flavors and coloring, and polyunsaturated cooking oils like corn, soybean, canola, safflower, and sunflower.

Yes, I buy fresh fruits and veggies in season. If I don't use fresh, I prefer to buy frozen veggies. I don't buy canned vegetables except for organic tomatoes, which I occasionally use.

I like all fruits and veg, but due to acid reflux I can't eat any of those tasty citrus fruits, or juicy pineapple, so I stick to apples, melons and bananas. I can eat all the vegetables and we have big salads several times a week, fried cabbage and peppers in the fall, and zucchini meals, but we also eat bags of the frozen "California mix."

Frozen broccoli is a mainstay and from the way it looks I'd say the frozen is better tasting and better for you than the fresh.

We eat frozen filets of cod or salmon every week. Frozen is not a bad word. In some cases it's safer.

So although we eat what most people would call healthy meals, I can't honestly say, "We eat heathy." The fatal television hour finds us with ice cream and cookies or worse.

Flarbalard (your dog tickles me), I just cook it in the bag, in the microwave, pour it in a bowl and add butter and salt. I do spend a little more for it than the other veg and buy Kroger's Private Selection or a good name brand of the florets.

I really look like that-- pretty much. Someone here posted the pic and I stole it for my personal use.

Thanks for the info, I usually just eat broccoli plain as a vegetable, but butter and salt would probably do it. Thank you.

I buy fruit and veggies frozen when they are not in season.. I was told frozen is as nutritious as fresh.

The only canned fruit I buy is 100% pineapple...the others have sugar added. I really dislike canned veggies...

Do you buy fresh fruits and vegetables? Yes! I eat mainly fresh and other plant based foods.

If you do are they in season? Yes for the most part. In season produce is generally cheaper.

As to the thread question, I think there are many answers including some don't care and simply eat what they want, then there are some who continue to do what's familiar from childhood, then there could be one excuse or another, and finally some people just prefer mostly meat or junk food.

No. Many people don't eat healthy because they enjoy eating unhealthy foods too much and if it matters to them without much self control. Meaty, greasy, salty, sweet, yum yum yum!

Our common folk ancestors other than nobles and wealthy elites did not eat meat regularly, much less 3 times a day.
