How about slow cooker or crock pot suggestions.

I have started enjoying preparing crock pot dinners. Need some ideas as I’ve made several different dinners I found on Facebook. I’ll post one that I’ve made.

Ingredients

2 14 ounce cans sauerkraut, undrained (or 1 (2 pound) bag)
5 or 6 potatoes peeled and cut into large chunks
1 cup water
1 pound Polish sausage cut into chunks (could use smoked sausage)
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 bay leaf
1/4 teaspoon pepper

How To Make Polish sausage Sauerkraut and potatoes

Place sauerkraut and potatoes in crock pot, add spices and water. Place sausage on top and cook 4 hours on high (6 hours on low) until potatoes are done. Makes 6 to 8 serving.8C0183A2-4BB3-47E3-8C63-8263FEB9FB1F.jpeg

I posted this before but here it is again..
small onion sliced
1lb of lean minced beef
I tin of Campbells or your favourite brand vegetable soup

onions first with just a little water
meat
soup....don't add water to soup
about 5 hours

You can add a bit of wooster sos if you like or maybe a little Sherry..
whatever flavour you like...just taste and try when almost ready

My crock pot is small so that pretty well fills it but when I had one a little larger I would chop up small potato.
If your pot is large you can double everything...then you can freeze for future dinners.

So much love Sauerkraut and sausage! This looks divine and I would know, one of my favorite meals, my German grandparents served this often :)

Sorry I lost my post. I find the best thing to do is sear your meat, beef chicken or pork before you put it in the crockpot. You will get much better flavor and texture. Since I am alone now I prefer to do in it a dutch oven, sear stove top, they low and slow in the oven like @RadishRose said

Sorry, my laptop and I are going crazy. I am also using the air fryer a lot more like @hollydolly. I have been looking for a new air fryer and @HoneyNut posted some info to help me. I know the one I want now but have decided to wait for the holiday sales until I purchase it.

I never have with minced beef. If you let it cook long enough should be very tender
Always comes out very tasty

I have used minced beef or what we call, ground beef in the crockpot. Normally, I use a beef roast, stew meat or a pork roast. I still sear the meat even mince, just to cook out some of the fat. Then I add the other things like soups etc to make a gravy. I add fresh or frozen veggies and cream soups like chicken, mushroom.

Looks like a lot more than 1lb. of polish sausage, but never mind the end result looks really good. For us & probably others 6 to 8 servings might be a tad to much. Again not something that would deter me. I'd portion off enough for two more meals freeze that in flat loaf form the repackage it by vacuum sealing them. That way we'd have a ready to heat & eat meal sometime in the future. Wouldn't even have to take it out of the sealed bag to heat it. vacuumed sealed could last up to 3 years but it looks so good I doubt it would last that long uneaten.

Pappy I have made smothered pork chops in crock pot..just quickly brown pork chops, onions and bell pepper strips...put in crock pot with a can of mushroom or cream of celery soup...cook until tender

I always like how my chili turns out in the crock pot. I mix the usual ingredients, beef, sauce, kidney beans, green pepper, chili seasoning and diced tomato. Set it on low for about 6-7 hours and it is great. As with stovetop recipes that suggest it, I add the kidney beans after about 4 hours

I get rid of the fat by draining off the liquid into a cup or whatever, before I add soup or anything else.
Usually about one hour or so gets the fat out.
I put that in the fridge then when it is cooled, skim off any fat and put remaining liquid back in pot.
That way you are getting all the juices from the meat and no fat
The whole idea is to keep it one pot cooking for ease and convenience .

I have also done pork spare ribs in the same way. Start with a little water , cook for couple of hours, drain off leaving just a little liquid then when almost cooked add your barbecue sauce and cook til ready. I usually make up my own concoction. Meat falls off the bone.
Been doing them that way for about 20 years now. All in one pot.
Gets rave reviews from friends I have served to.:p

Now I feel I want to go out and buy some ribs and get going on some..:giggle:

Pot Roast

2 1/2- 3 lb. chuck roast
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 envelope Lipton's onion soup
1 & 1/2 cans (soup can) water
Your choice of large whole carrots (break into smaller pieces), chopped whole potato, and/or sliced onion.

Blend the soups and water in the Crock Pot (or other slow cooker).
Place meat in this mixture.
Place the vegetables on top of the meat.

Cook on HIGH for 8-9 hours.

(recipes vary, but this is the way I like it). :)

Depending on your appetite, you'll have a couple of extra dinners to stash in the freezer.

Sounds good, Pappy, but Kielbasa gives me heartburn. I still eat it maybe once a year, but I know I am going to pay a price for doing it. My grandparents really liked Kielbasa and Sauerkraut. When grandma made it, she would fry me a hamburger.

Crock Pot Italian Beef Sandwiches | Valerie's Kitchen (fromvalerieskitchen.com)

This is just a guide as to how I make mine. (I don't really use a recipe) I use Rump roast, or bottom round as I find Chuck Roast too fatty. I cut up the roast, so you can also use beef stew meat.

Use this as a guide and make it your own. I sometimes add onions, sometimes giardiniera, always jarred sliced or small pepperoncini. If you make a sandwich, cheese such as provolone is really a must. It's also good on a plate with rice or mashed potatoes.

Leftovers freeze well. (it works with pork also)

That’s my favourite way to make Chili also. I’d never heard of waiting until later to add the kidney beans; I’ll now be following that tip.

As the weather gets cooler, it’s time for me to bring the crockpot up from the basement. It was taking up too much space in my pantry.

I learned the kidney bean thing from my mom....pre crock pot times because the beans would over cook if you put them in at the beginning. If someone understands different, let us know
