What is your parking protocol?

Actually, I give it about 30 minutes (that's about how long her knees last)

fixate on the door
See her appear
Walk over and try to take her cart
But, by then, she needs it for support
Put the bags in the tool box
Ask where to next

We only have the one phone, and I really don't want that one either, but the extra phone would come in handy
 

I do best with a routine for my parking when I am out shopping, more so in larger stores.

Most always take a quick phone pic snap of the parking isle I am in. And I have been known to jot
down on my notepad such as *isle 14 far side of whatever the store etc.*

One Christmas time at our local mall, I had not paid attention to where I parked and was
in shopping, having lunch, all sorts of things for 3 hours. Well, Ya know, time to leave and
oh gosh, weird feeling, could not recall where I had parked. Hundreds plus cars now had
the parking lots packed full. SO, I walked and walked up and down all around, taking one
full hour to find my car. Never, was that going to happen again, and smooth sailing since
that day, I always remember now (via my phone pics and a note) where I've parked.

We have matching cell phones with all the bells & whistles. T-Mobile as the provider. Senior plan for both phone is $73.00 a month with unlimited calling, text & world wide calling.
 
I try to park out where there's some elbow room, don't like overcrowding. Sometimes I have to use the alarm remote to locate my truck. Everybody drives trucks, many are white and there's a lot of Toyotas, gotta make sure I'm not breaking into someone else's white Tacoma. o_O

Hate the extra paraphernalia, tho
However, that convenience thing seems it'd be pretty nice

$73 a Month ???.. what ?... :eek: My estranged o/h and I both have Iphones , unlimited calling free texts.. etc, and costs £50 per month.. for both
 
pappy... similar thing happened to me in AC. i was CERTAIN i was in the right location, but when you don't see your car right away... AND have ever had a car stolen... instant panic. a security guy (cruising the parking garage) stopped to help. he told me almost every time someone says there car hs been stolen... it hasn't been. i get in his car... et voila... there's my car less than 100 yards from where i swore i had left it!

i have a hyundai/tucson... white. seems "everybody" has a small white suv these days. previous car was a hyundai/santa fe... maroon... tons of smallish/maroon/suvs on the road.

convenience is key. We walk everyday in the park close to us. My wife walks faster & typically will take a different route that includes some hilly areas. So while separated if she should need me that convenience is there.
 
One time, years ago, we parked in the underground parking at the KC airport, during a trip to las Vegas, and neglected to note the level, etc. When we returned, several days later, we spent quite a bit of time wandering in the garage. Finally, I was able to get the car horn to beep, and we found the car. Ever since, I make sure that I write the level/area number on the parking ticket, so we don't have to wander around...at least the luggage has wheels.

LOL, that kind of happened to me once.

I had a rental car, a Taurus as I recall. When I came back to the parking spot I thought I had left it in I got in and tried to start it. The key didn't seem to work, then I noticed a lady giving me a dirty look through the window... Fortunately she had a sense of humor and let me escape. Pretty embarrassing.

It may be a tree, or some sign, or I'll line up where I'm standing at my car with an aspect of the building and take a picture of that.

Memory and the ageing process, what a pain in the proverbial it is. My wife has a VW Golf, there's a small roof aerial onto which she tied a strip of blue ribbon to help identify it among many other cars. Sometimes though, she has to think hard which car park to look into.

I don't have any difficulties finding my car.

I try to park beside where the shopping carts are dropped off after you are done with them.

There have been times when I would look at the parking lot,, ask myself,,'Which car did I drive?'
That was when sons were home & had their own car & hubby had his.

Anyone with young drivers should remember to check the fuel gauge before getting into that vehicle.
 
I wrote this story here a couple of years ago.. so I've just C&P'd it from the original thread..

I parked my car in the multi-story car park in a town in the next county about 30 miles away some years ago ( before mobile phones were really a thing). Took note of the floor number ( 6).. and saw that the car park closed at 6pm.. I had a mad dash to get into town and get the shopping and race back before the car park closed . I had a bunch of heavy carrier bags, but I still had 20 minutes to go before the barriers came down until the following Monday (this was Saturday evening), so I get up to the 6th floor and the whole floor is empty.. nothing, no car..so I think ''oh jeez I've got the floor number wrong'', and dash down the stairs to the next floor,..nothing..now I'm panicking..

I try every floor.. flying like the wind despite the heavy bags, sweat pouring off me .. .. Now I know my car's been stolen, and I get down to the ground floor looking for an office or something..nothing no office open, all closed for the day ...

I dash outside, and only then do I realise there are 2 identical multi-storey car parks side by side on this main road ... I' have just 5 minutes left...I run as fast as I can..my arms nearly falling off with the weight of these bags..grab the lift up to the 6th..and finally found my car sitting there parked all alone in an otherwise empty car park.. I nearly fainted with relief..I had visions of being stuck 30 miles from home...

The shopping just got thrown in the boot.. as I raced to get out of there in 2 minutes I had left before the automatic shutters came down at the exit... :eek:
 
If I'm parking in a large lot I commit to memory (such as it is) a landmark to aid in finding the car. Also, I would NEVER buy a car with one of those usual colors of 90% of the cars on the road -- white, beige, black, silver, or you know what I mean. A nice bright red is perfect.
