The Navy previously said Ford's journey in the Atlantic would be a limited “service-retained deployment," but the ship is expected to cross the Atlantic and conduct a variety of exercises with other U.S. forces, as well as its allies and partners. Elements of the Canadian, Danish, Finnish, French, German, Dutch, Spanish, and Swedish militaries are all expected to work with the Ford and the rest of its strike group over the course of the deployment.

I haven't seen the Ford yet. I have read about and it sounds like an amazing ship. I don't know why the Royal Navy has been excluded, except for the possibility that they must remain where they have been stationed. Are all of the ships that are involved in the exercises Carriers? These exercises are going to be performed are in the Atlantic?

My Navy grandson is to be deployed out of Norfolk Va very soon for 2 months, I can't remember the name of his ship, but will check on this today...thanks for the post.

Oh those Carriers always drag a bunch of other ships with them. Sometimes they will have one or two Cruisers with their formidable anti-air capability, maybe a destroyer or two to deal with submarines, and often an American sub somewhere in the vicinity. A Carrier Battle Group is rather impressive and intimidating.
Exercising with other nations is very beneficial and a lot of fun.
Exercises in support of Marine Corps landings are flat out exciting to watch. I got to see a great one while I was on Okinawa in the early 70s. I would imagine that many of those pilots were Marines.

I have see the Naval exercises when they send out a Carrier strike group. During my training, I have been part of one of these events. There were several cameras taking videos of some of the exercises that were used for demonstration purposes and to show to the elites in D.C. These videos have to be very intimidating to other countries.

Check out this YouTube video.
