Becoming more modern .....

At least when it comes to making coffee. For years [forever] I used a Percolator, well cleaning it & making coffee one handed [cane in other hand] first thing in the morning is a PAIN !! So, I bought a single-cup drip-type Sboly brand. It makes great coffee and it is so much easier ... Luv it !

One can use pre measured cups .... or ground coffee in a small basket [my way] and as i said .... works/tastes great. And no waste , no amount sitting/ cooking/burning.

Over the years, I've been gifted coffee making machines and ended up donating them. I grind my beans, and use and love a simple pour over pot. This is as "modern" as I'm ever going to get. 🙃🙂

I'd like to pitch the Keurig in the trash, but Sharon won't hear of it. She's an author and subsists lives on great draughts of coffee. Although to her credit, she is migrating over to French Press.

Me, using a 4-cup 'Mr. Coffee.' That's about as modern as it will get for me. Like to have stove top glass percolator but that's a hard sell in this household. Cheers. Arnold

Okay, all you coffee aficionados. Do you ultra clean your coffee making machines, or do you let them build up coffee residue. Do you wash your maker to give a pristine coffee cup, or allow coffee to build up and give you that robust coffee flavor?

We use the paper filter and cone as well .. but, directly into the cup. I use pre-ground, he grinds his for
each cup.

 Seriously? Fuzzyboy, what'sa matteryou?

Yes, I wash my coffee pot and my cups. They're pristine. No "build up", ick, is necessary for a robust coffee flavor.

Yup

I so love the aroma of perc'd coffee
Anymore, a bit too much to do

The best temperature for brewing coffee is between 195 F and 205 F. I never make coffee with boiling water ... 212 F.
Thus, i use a Mr. coffee machine with paper filters. It also keeps coffee at the correct temp.

The 8 cup Mr Coffee does it for me
No options, buttons, gizmos
Flip the switch in the morn
Coffee in 5 minutes
Good coffee
'Course ya gotta start with good coffee
Mine's Kirkland Columbian

I found , with those types ... after the first cup is poured, the remainder of the pot burns, as it sits
There's never a 'remainder' in my pot

No dog in this hunt! After surgery the coffee they had in the rehab center was not drinkable. When I got home even though it was fresh brewed the smell turned me off.

Funny thing happened. 4 years ago before surgery 2 to 3 cups a day & blood pressure meds. After surgery & not drinking coffee blood pressure leveled off at a routine 127 over 66. No need for blood pressure meds.

I have a Keurig single cup machine, it's such a better way making one cup on demand, and not having extra coffee getting burnt sitting on the warmer. I get the reusable K-cups and put my Don Francisco Espresso in them.
You're a man after my own heart! Same here. Fresh cuppa every time I want it.

During heat waves I make extras and put them in the fridge so DH & I can have iced coffee the next day.

I drink one cup of half-caff every morning, then move to decaf. When drinking decaf exclusively, a single Hershey's Kiss or small caffeinated beverage caused my heart to pound for hours. So much for that approach. Moved to a little hit of caffeine each morning to give a body baseline tolerance to cope with small amounts at other times of the day.

I control what goes in my refillable K-cups and use different color K-cups for half-caff and decaf.

p.s. My BP was 124/70 at the doctor's earlier this week. No meds.

I am staying with my 4 cup Mr. Coffee, as I truly like the finished cup of coffee, actually 2 mugs each morning.
I have a Kuerig, but it doesn't taste like brewed coffee. The grounds in each k cup are hardly moist after using.
Nope, I like the way the grounds have time to absorb the water, seep into it, and then deliver a fresh roasted taste and smell to me each morning.

Note: Hey! Maybe I should offer my services to do a commercial for Mr. Coffee?!?

My last Black and Decker drip maker cost $12, but that was 5 years ago. In my opinion, the equipment you use to make the coffee is far less important than the coffee you put in it. Although for camp coffee, where you throw a hand full of grounds into a boiling pot, it's probably a bit too ancient to warrant using a select brand.
