This is an unusual experience. I was entering the grocery store this morn and saw what looked like a credit card or gift card on the ground ( with frequent flyer miles ! ). So I picked it up to see what it it really was and it WAS someone's credit card. I turned it in at the courtesy booth and the clerk was so surprised to see this? It's very rare to find a credit card that isn't a tossed away prepaid thing. I hope the store contacts the owner quickly. I've never found a credit card before so excuse me if I sound a little shocked.

Oh no.. that was mine.. and you gave it to someone else....:sneaky:

The store may wait for that person to come in and enquire. Even if they don’t come in, the owner will be pleasantly pleased that it wasn’t used by an unscrupulous finder. They will be happy a good person found it and did the right thing.
That's the problem with touch technology, previously a pin number had to be entered, there was at least some measure of fraud avoidance.

I was once on the other end of this situation! We were moving into a new apartment and the landlord said he would accept cash. So we went to the bank to withdraw the required amount. We hadn't established with a new bank yet, so we were using our debit cards. We were in such a hurry that we drove away from the ATM without the debit card. Was so glad when another person found it and took it into the bank!

once found a wallet on Patco train heading from NJ to Philly. it had $3-400 in cash inside. little other ID.. a medical insurance card of some sort. i called the number on the card and asked them to call person on card and tell her I had her wallet. she called me back and we met on commute home. she gave me several weeks worth of train passes... MUCH appreciated.

I lost my wallet with all my credit cards, driver's license etc. with $300. About a week later, I got it in the mail - minus the $300. I had no idea that if you find a wallet, and you toss it in a US mail box, USPS will mail it to the party.
BTW, try proving who you are without a photo driver license.
worked for a few years at a charter school in Camden, NJ... one of the worst cities in NJ. the 2 pre-k teachers rode in together. one afternoon on the 10 minute walk to their car, guy approached them, put a gun to one of the teachers backs. they gave up their purses immediately.

we all got together to talk about the incident. one suggestion was to do a "purge" of your wallet... at least once a year. credit card numbers, customer service numbers, etc.

losing your wallet (or having it stolen) and needing to replicate everything that was in it would make anybody cuss, but having all the info in one place would make it a little easier to take.
