The Homeless....

OK.
I was born in 1957, also knew right from wrong at 12, but as far as actual addiction I was clueless for a long time.
While the subject was addressed in 8th grade and 10th grade health classes, none of us kids had a personal way of relating to what we were taught.
In my class we called that 'Rationalizing'!

Whats Your Opinion On This !!!!"

Somehow this thread has gone from responding to the topic of churches offering help to homeless to less than cordial interaction in various posts.

My opinion

I don't think expecting all churches to house homeless overnight would be a good idea. IMO simply put, not all churches have the ability to house people overnight. Churches that have the capability to accept & are willing to accept the homeless that WANT to spend the night could make that offer.

Keys being.
Not force all churches to house homeless overnight.
And not allow homeless to make a church their residence.

Now about the variety of posts addressing personal experiences & opinions gained from articles in the media.

IMO there is no singular reason for a person or family to become homeless. On a personal level I haven't interacted with homeless & can't personally relate any experiences. But I do know in America there are tax paid agencies to help those that WANT help. I doubt there is a 100% success rate but at least there are avenues to seek help.

Federal Links Relevant to Homelessness
U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness is responsible for coordinating the federal response to homelessness across government and providing leadership for activities to assist homeless families and individuals with the goal of preventing and ending homelessness in the nation.

Is it possible to get back to civility with each other?

No. Not everywhere, and not for everyone. BEEN down that ugly road.

@brenda
Hopefully the HaHa was a mistake. The author of it is really a w

What a hot button topic. I feel for Brenda…she KNOWS what pain and hopelessness feels like. Those of us who have addicted or mentally ill family and friends know how complicated this all can be. There are many layers. Best thing to do is take a deep breath and help when and where we can. For the grace of God go I….
Well said.

Why would any member respond with a Haha for my sharing something so painful going on in my life?
You can see who responded with the various emojis by clicking on them at the bottom of your post. I took a look at them and suspect it was a simple error/mistake, not an intentional put down.

Best wishes.
