Bibi versus Issac! Who would you like to see win the election!

It seems that Bibi could be in trouble as his more liberal opponent was ahead in the polls. Pundits say that most Israelis are more concerned with economic matters than with threats of war. This sounds familiar but I am not sure how I would vote if I lived there. How about you?
 

I have been hoping Bibi would lose the election because of his slight to the President. Even if he loses the winner will have to work with Bibi's party in order to form a government. Parties in Israel seldom win a clear majority. I hope it is reported later on that he lost to Issac.
 
I'd like to see Netanyahu lose because he's an open hater and the world doesn't need people like that in positions of power. Let's hope he's the first of many governmental haters to go swirling around the bowl!
 

All I know about Netanyahu is he is a warmonger.. and has been trying to goad the US into war in the ME for as long as he has been in power. He has been singing the same old song about Iran and before that about Iraq, and has been wrong before.. WMD anyone? He wants US to fight the wars for him at the price of American blood and treasure.. and has the flippin' nerve to come to OUR congress and act like HE is the President of the US too.. I hope he loses.. The world does not need that type of leader.
 
Doesn't matter who wins this election,the U.S. will continue to send billions to Israel year after year and to this day nobody really knows where it all goes.
 
I'd like to see Netanyahou, Putin and that crazy North Korean guy banished to a small desert island together where the only power they can try to exercise is over each other. Can you imagine? :hee:
 
Right now the election its close to call. However it comes out Bibi has closed the gap and he will be a factor in the new government.
 
Bibi is declaring victory.. BUT.. the government operates differently. Now he has to put together a coalition of supporting parties.. So It may be a very slim victory if any at all.
 
So I wonder since Netanyahu has made it abundantly clear that there is absolutely no friggin way that the Palestinian people will get any satisfactory relief (including a region to call their own), how this will impact future 'peace talks' that the USA gets involved in? At least the Israeli government used to pretend but now the gloves are off.
 
I'm glad Netanyahu won....of course I am a Republican...who wears a tin foil hat, but I do wear them in different colors to match my outfits.
He stands up for his country, and I see nothing wrong with that. He does not want to see Iran have a nuclear weapon in 10 years or any year,
and I agree with him.

Well, like all Right wingers, he has had to make ridiculous promises to the Right wing base in order to win... Including the racist scare tactic that the "Arabs" were coming out in droves to vote for his opponent. This is what brought out his base and tipped the scales. Of course the "Arabs" he was referring to were as much Israeli citizens as Netanyahu himself.. but never let a good racist comment get in the way of winning an election. that said.. NOW in order to govern, he is going to have to walk back some of the Right wing demagoguery. Sounds very familiar.. It should be pretty interesting watching him dance on a pin.. lol!!
 
I think my question was more along the lines of 'how will the American administration deal with this guy and his government' when it comes to talking about peace with the Palestinians now and in the future. Now that he's confirmed that he's been stringing them along all these years, will they still bother, will they pull their support, will they continue to back the country/guy/government with words and cash or finally will they begin to understand why the BDS movement is relevant and necessary and start drawing some symbolic 'red lines' in the sand with regards to that corrupt government institution.

Ever since 2013(?) when a Knesset member walked out on my PM, which caused me to begin looking for and reading all kinds of information on that region, I haven't been in doubt at all, the Israeli's generally speaking don't want peace, they don't want to get along, they just want everything and they want to empty the region of Palestinian Arabs. That's not to say that there aren't lots of Israeli Jews who are working for peace and give their support to the Palestinian cause, but generally speaking, most of them apparently are against it and I think this election proves that point.
 
Israel has nuclear weapons, for pete's sake, North Korea has nuclear weapons, why not Iran? Are we the only large nuclear armed country concerned about Iran obtaining what many other countries already have. What does China say, or Russia?They don't seem to display the hysteria we do. What's the big problem and why are we old seniors concerned? Huh?

This is what I don't understand. Iran may have heated rhetoric against Israel, but they are not stupid. They know Israel has nuclear weapons and should Iran even LOOK like they were going to bomb Israel, Iran would be turned to glass. Why would they risk the anihilation of their entire country?

As it should have six years ago at least, the White House warned that the entire foundation of its policy for always backing, protecting, and “standing with Israel” unconditionally as a veto-wielding member of the UN Security Council.

According to the White House, that unconditional protection was undermined by Netanyahu’s true agenda to never allow Palestinians have a state of its own; something America provided for Israel after World War II and has sustained with unwavering military and financial support without recompense.


This country has frequently and consistently done Netanyahu’s bidding in the United Nations and unilaterally opposed, by Security Council veto, any attempt at the UN to recognize a Palestinian state.

In fact, as Israel’s only ally and benefactor, America has duly “shielded and protected Israel from isolation in the international community” despite its despicable corralling of Palestinians in fenced off “internment camps” and building Israeli settlements without pause.

Coupled with Netanyahu’s war mongering speech to Congress aimed at killing a peaceful U.N. nuclear deal with Iran, a deal President Obama supports, it looks like the White House has had its fill of protecting Israel from international pressure for its disregard for innocent Palestinians imprisoned on a reservation. As is typical, after President Obama had a brief conversation with Netanyahu on his election victory, Netanyahu’s response to the White House regarding the United Nations was that “a peace agreement can’t be “imposed” on Israel;” in other words Israel is not going to recognize any peace deal.

Now, a particular aggravation is that Israel is frantic to push America into a war with Iran over its nuclear program because the Islamic Republic “might” develop a nuclear device; Israel has a nuclear arsenal and refuses to sign any nuclear agreement whatsoever. Israel claims that Iran wants to annihilate Israel and yet last year during the Israeli massacre of Palestinians there were Israelis calling for the extermination of the Palestinian people. Israel may have stopped short of exterminating innocent Palestinians, but they wreaked immeasurable destruction on Gaza because criminals killed three Israeli youths.




There are a substantial number of Americans who are sick to death of this idea that America is beholden to ‘stand by Israel‘ unconditionally and that is, in essence, the source of the problem.

Regardless what Israel does, America is always there “standing by” with its powerful military and open checkbook.

Last week there were more demands for American money even as Netanyahu threatened to derail negotiations with Iran as Republicans cheered wildly.

Of all the great things President Obama has accomplished during his tenure in the White House, it may just be that the greatest accomplishment is standing up and warning Israel its unwavering protection may come to an end.

A very accurate summation of the situation with Netanyahu, Americans are tired of pouring money into Israel and the war monger's actions.
 
I was pretty indifferent about it. That is until Netanyahu and Boehner started their campaign to insult and sabotage this President. It caused me to look into it more.. I'm now firmly in the camp that Israel is like a spoiled child.. having a tantrum and threatening to hold it's breath. Time we stopped this nonsense. Netanyahu needs to learn that words have consequenses.. ANd Boehner needs to be slapped

I understand Boehner is going to make a trip to Isael soon What's going on? A Bromance?

Just another way for Boehner to show disrespect to President Obama and too, he'll be closer to Netanyahu for his 'kiss up'.
