i worked with special needs HS kids for several years. one of our wheelchair bound students went horseback riding on a regular basis. we went on a field trip to that "farm" and i can't describe the feeling when the horse she always rode SAW her and headed straight to her.

We did this at our hospital with a pony once, and it went well. Wonderful therapy.

we have some horses around here that visit hopsitals and hospices.. they're great therapy ...
