Interview with the vampire…

Is anyone watching or getting into the AMC version of Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire? I find that I like this version better than the 1994 one with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, although there are parts of it that are difficult to watch. I’ve honestly kind of overloaded on vampires, and am more of a werewolf guy, actually…

Just started watching, so far so good.
I too have had my fill of vampires. And zombies.
I rarely watch or read vampire things, so guess I am not yet burned out.

Zombies on the other hand my wife really likes and watches the Walking Dead things. First one or two were ok, but at this point I don't ever need to see another...

I'm sick of vampires, zombies, werewolves, and aliens. But I enjoyed Anne Rice's books on vampires many years ago. The movie with Tom Cruise was pretty true to the written story, but considering it was only two hours long, it couldn't cover everything. There were a few things I didn't like about the film. Tom Cruise was not at all my idea of Lestat. As far as I'm concerned, he was terribly miscast. It's too bad Heath Ledger was only fifteen years old in 1994 when the film was made, he would've been perfect as Lestat. As much as I love Antonio Banderas, he was 34 years old when the film was made and cast as Armand, who was a 17-year-old boy. He just didn't fit the bill for that role. However, Brad Pitt was perfectly cast as Louis, and Kirsten Dunst did a fine turn as Claudia. I wish they'd make "The Vampire Lestat" into a film. Who knows, when they get tired of remaking "Interview with a Vampire," maybe they'll get around to it. I won't hold my breath.

I didn't get past the few episodes of the new "Interview with a Vampire" series, it was disappointing. Although the actors were good and it had terrific art direction, I was expecting a better (and more complete) adaptation of the book. Since it was an 8-hour series instead of a 2-hour movie, I figured they'd get it all in (I wanted to see the parts of the story that had to be left out of the film). But they completely rewrote the story (except for the three leading characters), and it's completely NOT Anne Rice's novel.

Those are two beautiful men! I'm not sure if I can screen AMC shows on any of my platforms. I'll check it out. Why is it difficult? Too gory?
I like it, there is some gore but it is after all a vampire show. What I don't like it all the detailed sex scenes that they think are needed to tell the story. IMO, it is okay to make reference to it but it does not need to be shown in graphic detail.

Anne Rice's vampires didn't have sex in any of her books. It was all about their lust... for blood. That was the be-all and end-all.

A friend of mine (who does like the gritty stuff) and I were just talking about gratuitous sex scenes being all too prevalent these days and we don't like it. She has HBO and other premium channels. I won't pay for them for that very reason. Their shows are filled with foul language and gratuitous sex. I saw on Roku that AMC has a freebie and I thought about taking advantage of it to see the show, but now I won't. Thank you for your reply.

Difficult to watch all the latest releases, films, remakes and the likes. Obviously, reasons are I'm in the UK and even though we've access to a lot out there, we don't always get these...

However, thanks for the info, I'll see if I can watch it here. Nevertheless, when I've watched the original film, "Interview with the Vampire" after reading Anne Rice's book, I had a crush on Brad Pitt lol! So, until I view this one above, Brad's version is it lol!

PS never get enough of vampires, that's the subject which made me write a series and become an independent author.
