What do you do to avoid boredom?

I play my computer game-World of Warcraft-I have played it for decades. Watch TV, love TV ๐Ÿ˜Š. Do genealogy research when the mood strikes me, couple times a week when I feel up to it. Read. Walk as much as possible and talk to everyone I meet in the apartment complex. ๐Ÿ˜‚. People will stop their cars and wave or yell โ€œhiโ€ at me and some of the kids and teens as well. One little girl especially speaks to me on her way to school.

Color, I especially like flowers to color. Plus the everyday stuff we all have to do. Weekends the usual everyday stuff, Sundays I take my youngest, Joey, out to eat and sometimes my oldest son and his SO. With the holidays, we will add the occasional movie.

Shopping trips usually once a week. And I am back on the forum ๐Ÿ˜Š. Variety of doctors visits throughout the month.

Do I get bored? Rarely and mostly while waiting for a doctor. Do you get bored? Or not bored?

I'm very bored since moving to a new town a year and a half ago. There's nowhere to go in the car, other than someplace to go for a walk. And I can't go for a walk because of leg problems. People here are into activities that don't interest me.

I think my boredom is mostly not knowing how to "plug in" to my new reality. Gradually I'm learning to adjust and appreciate.

I did have to fight hard to find things to do, or start activities (group or solo) on my own. But it worked out and was worth it. Met some really nice people.

I'm bored with my exercise routine, so I'm going to start going to the pool.

I need a change of pace and scenery, so I'm making travel plans.

Studying and practicing another language puts a new spin on ordinary things.

I'm also learning to appreciate my quiet, boring life. I'm still bored, but no life is perfect. Things could be worse.

Well, I briefly review my "to do" list, once I convince myself that none of that needs to be done today, I'll review the items I've looked at on Amazon, or one of the electronics retail sites. Get coffee or tea and get on the treadmill or elliptical and watch something on Netflix.
Getting a good amount of daily exercise while goofing off makes it not seem so much like work. ;)

yes I have to say now I'm alone, I do get bored.... I know I should be grateful for being able to get out and about.. but it's not really fun on your own... further to that I live in a semi rural area.. which means driving everywhere, and fuel prices are through the roof..even the train into London is fraught with nonsense.. I live just 20 miles from the city centre, but it's a train and 2 tubes to get there.. such a faff to travel.. .. to the fact that the train staff are forever on strike.. so it's difficult to plan to go anywhere

I'm lucky I know to live in a beautiful area, and my hobby is photography as everyone here knows .. but after the first 40 years the scenery gets a little samey..

I don't play games on my computer any more because online games leave a lot of junk that slows down your computer. That wasn't a problem when my o/h was here because he would periodically spend a couple of hours getting rid of it all .. but I can't do that.. so I don't play any more..

I have my gardens.. which are large which keep me busy in summer.. and I'm an avid reader.. but all in all... I do get bored quite often..

My late grandmother had an expression about boredom, if you should tell her that you were bored she would reply: "The Devil finds work for idle hands."
My wife and I are fortunate in that most of our married life from early twenties to late sixties, we have enjoyed the social activity of Latin & Ballroom dancing. We would be out every night that my retired paramedic wife wasn't working. That's why for the first thirty years we didn't bother with television.
Dancing is not are only past time though, she has her cabin where she enjoys her hobby of dressmaking. One of my pleasures is writing, not as in authorship but handwriting, I have written up many a wedding album.

Collecting and playing records from the era known as Swingtime is something else that I enjoy. My wife treated me to the ultimate record player, on which I can indulge of my collection.

Whilst we don't compete or travel to dances the way we once did, we still enjoy ourselves on the dance floor.

And what better than with a crowd of like minded friends?

Going to such vintage style events calls for a carriage befitting that era.

There's a lot to keep us happy, even though old age has slowed us down we can always find something to do.

Watch movies, watch You Tube, I probably follow about 20 You Tubers, Shop online, read and ride my mower, I do a lot on that riding mower.....mow, mulch leaves haul off limbs and trash, go to the mailbox, haul the big garbage bin to the road and pick up when empty...all this and my daily chores and shopping.

you're very lucky to still have each other... I thought I'd always have my husband, but see what thought did ?

In our early years we befriended a wonderful couple, went to their wedding, had the honour of being Godparents to their daughter and son, went away to the Costa Paquette together. Great friends. Then he fell for some pretty legs and an ample cleavage, it caused pain and distress. Eventually they divorced. Fast forward to the weddings of the now grown up children. He turns up with his second wife, his daughter wanted me to "give her away," (I hate that expression,) but I told her to leave the past in the past so her father had that honour.
It was much the same when the son got married. The son and I text each other almost daily.

It's so sad that those two children have closer contact with their Godparents than they do with their father. And as a fitting tale, the jilted lady met a lovely fellow and asked my wife to make her a wedding dress. My missus pulled out all the stops and made her a dress that any of Hollywood's royalty would be proud of.

Amongst our crowd of good friends there will always be that someone whom attracts, I would simply say to that, enjoy the view and treat everyone the same. As Marilyn sang: "Men grow cold. As girls grow old. And we all lose our charms in the end." (It's from Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend.)

I do get bored although I feel there's enough I could (and should) be doing that I have no right to be bored. I've mentioned this before, but doing financial stuff is like a hobby to me, it relaxes me and there's always something that needs fine tuning. I also play games on my phone and tablet ...mostly Words With Friends and Cody Cross, but I have several others. Now I have our kitten to play with which is a lot of fun.
I'll immerse myself in my favorite T.V. shows to take my mind off things. Interesting conversations with family and friends help, especially during this time. I've been admonishing myself because I should be doing more with my music.

I should patent this idea, so pay attention. ๐Ÿ˜Š

First, I open the front door and stick my finger in the air to determine whether it's going to rain or not.

I then go walking, taking the most twisting and turning route to see how many people I know to say hello to.

Now here is the clever part..... I turn around 180 degrees and head home following the route I took earlier, but in reverse, if you know what I mean.

Oh, and the finger in the air trick is a waste of time, I got soaked to the skin this morning.

Once again, you make me howl with laughter, so thank you. My DH could always make me laugh that's what is missing in this house except for when the pets act crazy.

I usually wind up in the kitchen. Baking bread or cookies, a lot of those go to the neighbors. Making soups for the freezer.

The dogs, it never stops, there is someone that needs a brush or a bath. There is always the need to sweep and vacuum the dog hair. That alone is an everyday occurrence.
