I Shopped Different Groceries To Compare Prices

They are high everywhere. I thought I might be getting gauged at my usual grocer, but no. The one I went to today was actually higher and the one last week was about the same as my usual one. Aldi is overall the cheapest but even their prices rose as well. Looks like we just have to suck it up and check for sales.
 

I may go to 3 or 4 different stores a week. I watch all the sales flyers. I go when they have items I need to keep the pantry and freezer stocked. Go in get the sale items, then off to the next store. They are all a loop of about 2 miles. Put a cooler in the trunk for cold items while I make the rounds.

If I stay ahead of the increases, I still can have everything I want/need at a good price. The only thing right now are butter and eggs, still waiting for the best price on those.

I have also been picking up meats and some items for my son's family.
 
The prices at Walmart today were really good, in particular the pitted dates price had dropped back down to a long-ago price, and the popcorn I like looked like a good price. The expensive low-sugar peanut butter cups are still at the high inflation price but they have not gone up any more for the past two or three months (and were on sale for less for a few weeks at Wegman's).
 
Aldi is my first choice followed by Walmart. I try to look at ads for both & two other stores in area before I shop. If I find a real good sale on something we use, I'll get it even though we aren't completely out. Coupons have almost completely disappeared. I also keep a dry erase board in the kitchen & keep an ongoing list of what we need trying to stick to it when we shop. Pet food is hardly on sale anymore if you can even find it on the shelves.
 
Aldi's are higher but more reasonable than a lot of places. That's why I either go there or get delivery from them..I paid 1.35 for bread at Aldi's while the other place I go to the same kind of bread is 4.00. A package of cheese šŸ§€ at Aldi's is 1.89 while the two other places cheese range from 4.99 to 7.99. I could go on and on with how much more reasonable Aldi's is.

Yes, Aldis is on my regular route!
 
On Wednesday evening I make lists from the digital fliers. A few things here and there. If Iā€˜m in that area, I pick up those items. I could happily go to a grocery store every day. I donā€™t, but I could.

Today I got a rain check for an item that was out of stock. I was out of the habit of doing this.

I don't cook a.big turkey either. It's just me and the pet family. Tomorrow I am going to look for a turkey breast to bake. Suzy dog will get some as a holiday treatt. The bird has millet treats. I got her a big box of them.

Your homemade pumpkin pie sounds delish. I have some sweet potato pie but didn't make it. I hope you find some joy in your holiday. I've been looking for things to be grateful for since it's Thanksgiving time.
