Best Christmas pudding recipe!

You had me at currants!

What is "mixed spice," and how much is in half a packet?

Currants

Currants, also known as “Zante currants,” are tiny, dried grapes.
Despite their name, currants are actually made by drying a variety of small, seedless grapes called “Black Corinth” and “Carina.”
Currants are dried for up to three weeks.
Due to their small size, they have a sweet, tangy and intense flavor and add texture and sweetness to both sweet and savory dishes.
Mixes Spice we can buy at the Supermarket (packet) also currents..Might not be the same in your part of the world?

Thank you for the explanations. Sorry about any misunderstanding. My comment meant, "I know what currants are, and absolutely love them." But ... to me, currants are small berries that grow on a bush (related to gooseberries).

Perhaps they proved too difficult to grow or harvest, so the small grapes have replaced them.

I don't think we have anything called "mixed spices" in Canada. Anyway, looks like a lovely recipe!

one wine glass of brandy in this recipe, all and all a lovely pudding! :)
