Here in Toronto one of the most expensive men's stores is Harry Rosen. The other day I was searching for a new pair of winter boots, online. This morning this Harry Rosen ad popped up on my screen. The boots look nice, but the price is crazy $1020.00 Yes, over a thousand dollars for a pair of winter boots. link.Moncler Mon Corp Lace-Up Boots | Boots | Harry Rosen

I think my next search will be at WalMart......Grin. JimB.

When I visited Toronto in 1989, I did some shopping
in a place called Biway, I think that is the name, I have
a cheap back and feet.

In the good old days, Bi Way was what Dollar Rama is today. Cheap and low quality. JimB.

Does Masons?
I know that you are trying to be helpful but....There are many national stores in Canada that I can buy from on line . NO need to buy from the USA, and pay import duties, and taxes, when I can buy/pay here in Canadian Dollars, not US Dollars. Thanks. JimB.

Asking and buying are 2 different things. They could ask for a million dollars but I ain't buying and as sure as the sun is gonna rise tomorrow, I ain't paying. The "buck" is got to stop somewhere. No wonder consumer debt is so high and folks are now "sweating bullets" with the higher interest rates.

To those who can afford it, a mere pittance. :)
A fool and his money are soon parted. For what it's worth that price translates into about £640 in Stirling. I pay about half of that and my shoes are made to measure. How much would Rosens charge for my 1920's reproductions?

And to think, when I was a teenager you could buy a nice pair of leather Thom Mcan loafers for $10 that would last a year in daily use… šŸ‘ž

All my life since I can remember, I have always wore,
leather shoes, I have been "sort of", searching most
of this year, looking for black brogues, my shoes of
choice, but I keep coming up empty handed, today,
they might have leather uppers, but the soles, which
are mainly look like they should be on "Work Boots",
or they have pointed toes, like the ones that "Circus
Clowns", used to wear, or they have fawn coloured
edges to the soles, which are still not leather and they
cannot be coloured with polish.

So my search goes on.

Mike.
