I'd just moved here a few months previously.. aged 19.. yet it never seemed any more vibrant than the city in Scotland from where I'd moved.. I was quite disappointed, we'd always been told that London was the Metropolis..

I’m glad I made it to London and it is possible though unlikely I’ll go again. I’ve enjoyed seeing England, Japan. Italy and Mexico but I confess I’m happiest at home in my own garden with my dogs with my wife, friends and family near.

On Friday my wife had her four score birthday. As an artist showing her weavings internationally she has traveled the world much more than I.

Maybe it was my upbringing as a military brat constantly relocating that has fostered my appreciation for putting down roots. This Willy Nelson song speaks for me.

Funnt thing is I moved 17 homes in my lifetime.. and yet I still haven't lost the bug to travel.. and even move again..

i wonder if having the experience of staying too long somewhere that didn’t appeal to you enters into it? My wife moved less often than I growing up but a few times and I think she had fond memories from them all. But like you traveling has been very important for her. Without her I’m sure I would have traveled less.

But moving again is off the table for me. I want to be composted and leave some of me here.

well I didn't really have a choice, because most of my movements from home to home, city to city was as a child...

No... just itchy feet from my mother.. then when I married I married into the Navy which meant moving from Married Quarter to Married Quarter all around the country...

My father was navy too. For me high school reunions are the worst. Everyone remembers everyone else to elementary school and before. Ho hum. Not big into nostalgia anyway.
