this place. It's nice to have a place to go to converse with people of like mind, sometimes just to have someone with whom to pass the time of day, talk about the weather, what did we do today or yesterday, ask for opinions or advice, even rant about what's aggravating us at the moment.

It's also nice to get reassurance when we're all at sea about something that's bugging us, encouragement during tough times, or virtual high fives when we resolve a problem. And it feels good to provide those same things to our cyberpals.

Thanx, @Matrix:)

@Georgiagranny, if I could find a job like yours, and find a person like you as a coworker, I would be all over it. I love being in the kithcen, making and baking wonderful things for everyone to enjoy. I don't think you know how much difference you make in the lives of people your work touches.

The bakery is one of my favorite places to shop when I am too tired to do for myself. I think people would be shocked that someone your age is back there making the magic happen. I salute you and apprecitiate your hard work!!

Hear! Hear! 😍

@Blessed...They might be surprised but I don't think shocked except for my blue hair ;) We're not "back there" making magic happen. Our work area is open; there's just the display cases between us and the customers. They can watch me making or packaging croissants, breads, pies, cookies, watch Sir decorate a birthday cake.

Well I think that is wonderful, that they can see you back there doing what you do. It is magic, you do not give yourself the credit you deserve. Maybe some adults don't get it but is magic to children. When my son was but a toddler, Dad was working but we would go to a donut shop that was open to the kitchen. My son could sit there and watch the people who were making his breakfast and how they did it. We were both heartbroken when they closed when he was about ten. It was one of our special things!!

You contribute so much to families that eat your baked goods and for children, seeing how things work to give them those special things. That is what our children and youth need to see. To have anything great there is hard work involved. Believe it, you are special, you make a difference in the world.

Yes like that, but you don't see the ovens, the packing area. How hard those people work to bring you what some see as everyday but what I see as a delight or treat. You may not see it there but somewhere, someone is making the dough, forming the bread, rolls, cookie, cakes and pies. It is all magic to me that we have access to so many products if we can not do it ourselves.

Mind you, I love to bake and can do many things at home but truth be told there are things above my skill level. I am happy to be able to purchase those things when needed!

@hollydolly Yup, sort of. There are big display cases, our work area with a big stainless steel table and behind us a proofer (looks like a commercial oven but it only gets to about 100F with variable humidity that allows the yeast breads on the racks to proof and rise) and an enormous floor-to-ceiling commercial oven.

@Blessed When our cookie count is "off" and we have a couple of extras, we keep an eye out for the littles and ask their moms if it's okay to give them a cookie. Nobody has declined so far🍪 LOL
