Broadchurch, British TV Series

Paladin1950

Still love 50's & 60's music!
Last Saturday, my local PBS affiliate, finished airing the 3 seasons (series in the UK), of Broadchurch. I really enjoyed watching this show. The episodes date from 2013-2017, but finally made it to the U.S. The first season was about the murder of an 11 year old boy. The 2nd season was centered around the devastating effect it left on the citizens, and about a few other crimes committed in the past. The 3rd season was about the rape of a divorced woman. David Tennant and Olivia Colman star. Tennant is the only British actor that I have had trouble understanding sometimes when he speaks. Why? I don't know. Colman's voice can be heard narrating another British show that I like, The Secret Life of the Zoo.

Unlike some American dramas, where a crime is solved in one episode, in this show, the crime and the investigation goes on for the entire season, which makes it seem more realistic, at least to me.

This show also has a connection to Dr. Who ( which I have never cared for), David Tennant & Jodie Whittaker, are both in Broadchurch.

Sorry, I don't like those mystery stories that cover multiple episodes. All that character development and so on is boring for me. In reading also, I always preferred mystery short stories (under 40 pages). But they're very hard to find, so I have to plow through entire mystery novels.

That said, I did watch all of the Broadchurch first season, with a friend who was a David Tennant fan. It was fine, and at the end of the first season they knew who did it. The end! (As far as I was concerned.) I didn't watch the remaining two series.

That's another reason I didn't watch...David Tennant is "hard to understand"..with his THICK accent...causes "brain drain"👎

the thing is David Tennant has a great aptitude for accents... it's rare he uses his own Scottish accent except in interviews.. He was Dr who for a very long time, and many people didn't even know he was Scottish...

..and with his own accent...

I’m currently watching Vera and greatly enjoying the series. I subscribed to Britbox via Amazon for two months on a Black Friday deal and discovered there is a lot of other content I want to see so I expect to subscribe again. I do need the closed caption feature.
