More layoffs, this time in media!

Same here, no money, no jobs, supermarkets with empty shelves,
prices going up daily, all signs of a recession, Tish, but the money
men and the Government won't tell us if it is true.

As you say SeniorBen, it's good to be retired, except for the prices
going up.

Mike.

Christmas spending is supposed to be up by 4-6% this season over last year, which will only had fuel to the fire. Spend, spend, spend. That's what we do best.

I went to a couple of stores yesterday. People are shopping like crazy, like there would be no tomorrow. There were a bunch of "crazies" lined up to see Santa Claus. It used to be free to see Santa in them ole' days. Today, there is a line up of 30 or more feet; you go in, give your credit card to a "honey," (maybe she is Santa's girl friend?), she swipes it into her machine and then you see Santa.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ! Christ Almighty! No wonder the country is in trouble!

A wave of layoffs have hit the beleaguered American media industry as several major companies, including CNN, BuzzFeed and Gannett, have laid off hundreds of workers in recent weeks citing economic volatility and uncertainty.
I’m surprised you’re not blaming it on Elon Musk.
Nope, Twitter's not the only one giving their employees a "merry Christmas & happy new year": news.stanford.edu

So we had tech industries and now media industries cutting workers, yet corporate profits are still strong. Are the layoffs a tell for what's around the corner?

I have a picture of me on Santa’s lap somewhere. I remember my mom taking me shopping and while we were in a department store, she thought it was a good idea to surprise my dad. Me? I didn’t care one way or the other, but I always tried to please my mom, so I acted excited.

Is that a line to get a photo with Santa? So what they're paying for is the picture?

I don't want anyone to lose his or her or their job. But I fail to see what sort of useful purpose CNN serves. People who used to watch it to stay up to date on the news now just go to the internet. They might as well change it to BWN -- Buggy Whip News -- because it's going that way.

Yes, they must be paying for a photo with Santa. I sort of laughed when I went by and was glad I am retired. I guess it's a job for some guy but I bet he earns his pay. LOL
Thanks, just wasn't sure if they were charging for the just seeing Santa, capitalism being what is . When I was a kid I guess you'd say I was under privileged. My class in school got to go see Santa at a department store, and we each were given a toy. As I recall it was a metal airline jet, which still seems pretty cool even now.

The Washington Post chief announced a new round of layoffs. That's to be expected, though. The current administration refuses to provide scandals on par with the former administration, so there's less to report on. :ROFLMAO:

We need doctors, plumbers, teachers, nurses, garbage pickup people but do we really need media people. Sure, they might be nice but are they really necessary.

I could do without most of them. The world might be a better place and a happier place. Sorry all you phone users but I have one too.
