'Global warming the greatest scam in history' claims founder of Weather Channel
The debate about climate change is finished - because it has been categorically proved NOT to exist, one of the world's best known climate change skeptic has claimed.
It is true that John Coleman was a founder of the Weather Channel, however he is a TV personality, not a scientist, weather or otherwise. His college degree was in journalism, and his career was as a TV weatherman and newscaster.

Not sure I would put a whole lot of stock on his position on this subject... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Coleman_(meteorologist)

Unfortunately, I copied that from a description of a file I had on my computer without going to the actual article itself.
I'm not going to argue about Coleman's abilty to be a climate skeptic. He's been dead for quite a while. Plus, I now see his page has been hijacked by the climate activists.

However, the uncensored truth is easily found in hundreds of articles based on fact, not on agenda. You can't miss finding them.

Al Gore wanted to sell some books.
Hasn't the climate been changing since the world was formed?
Climates have been changing for goodness how many ages. It's normal. But these idiot activists who cannot accurately predict the weather for next Tuesday want us to think they know how the entirety of the earth's atmosphere works?

It's simply a power grab to rule our entire existence.

(How did you get Gore mentioned here? I tried a post about that crook and it got deleted - NO POLITICS.)

Oh, Sorry, I don't think of him as a political figure.

Well said,

Lawyers are good at framing arguments in a way that suggests they're indisputable. And as we know the government consists of nothing but skillfully gifted Lawyers who have found a way to continue to make money without working for it.

This climate change thing is unprovable....period.
It's like arguing of there's an afterlife.

I like the comedy routine of George Carlin where he attacks the idea of Saving the Planet.

There's fewer climate deniers than there used to be, but still some that cling to their media for thought 'guidance'.

Here's an excerpt from an article on Climate Change Denial:

"One reason for the refusal to accept the reality of climate change is what is called “motivated interference,” which occurs when we hold a specific bias to ignore evidence. As science writer Nicole Mortillaro noted, this can include a general unease with large government projects that are expensive and interfere with individuals’ lives. Other reasons, she writes, include those of “people whose livelihood is dependent on…the oil industry” and resentment of “government taking money out of [individuals’] pockets in the form of public spending on carbon mitigation efforts.”

In addition to motivated interference, there is also a powerful psychological component to this blindness to scientific reality: denial. A lot has been written about climate change denial and there are clearly many explanations for it. For one thing, an enormous amount of money is being spent encouraging us to ignore climate change. Corporations, especially the fossil fuel industry, have spent huge sums attempting to obfuscate the reality of climate change. We are constantly told by them that “more data are needed” because “climate scientists don’t agree.” While no scientist would ever disagree with a call for more research—that line is, after all, found near the end of almost every scientific paper ever written—it just is not true that scientists don’t agree that climate change is real. To some extent, then, we are the victims of a well-funded and sophisticated misinformation campaign that attempts to keep us in the dark about climate change.
"

Seems like politicians who warn us against the “rising oceans” are the same ones who have ocean front homes. Global climate change is used to explain droughts and floods, extreme heat and extreme cold, hurricanes or lack thereof. If it explains everything, it explains nothing. It’s just an excuse to tax the people.

I know which political party wants to think that it's a hoax. But of course it is not. I remember in the 50's seeing on TV, films of the arctic and the massive ice bergs. It looked like some other planet. Look at the ice bergs today, or what is left of them.

The people who want to believe it is a scam, and claim so, are not fooling anyone, least of all themselves. If you compare winters of today to those of the 50's and 60's, the proof is clear and shocking. Here in upstate New York (Rochester area & Mohawk Valley), we used to get continuous from October to March. When we lived in a single floor house, the snow got up to the roof (at least in 1958 & 1959). We very often got sub zero weather. With the wind chill factor, it could feel like -25° F.

Now we never get below weather here anymore. When it gets to single digits like 8°, we think that is horrible. We get so many snowless days in November and December. Quite a few in January also. Way less snow. Way less below zero weather.

I realize that global warming has a different effect on other areas of the US and the world. But it is real. Some of us care about what world the future generations have to live in, and some don't care at all. They won't be around, so who cares?

The debate about climate change is finished - because it has been categorically proved NOT to exist, one of the world's best known climate change skeptic has claimed.
The article is from 2015. Around July of 2022, a video resurfaced with Jon Coleman info campaign on social media that caused quite a stir. This article is about the reaction to it. It is from the Associated Press.

"CLAIM: Climate change is not happening, nor are humans causing significant global warming. There is also no scientific consensus that climate change is occurring.

AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. The scientific consensus is that climate change is real and that greenhouse gas emissions caused by human activity are driving climate change, as The Associated Press has previously reported. The false claims stem from a years-old CNN interview with John Coleman, the now deceased co-founder of The Weather Channel. At the time, he had not worked at the network in three decades, and The Weather Channel rejected his claims in the same CNN segment.

THE FACTS: A video of Coleman making a variety of false claims about climate change during a 2014 interview on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” resurfaced online over the past week, with social media users sharing it as if it were new.

During the interview, Coleman claimed that there is “no consensus” in science that humans are causing climate change. He went on to call the notion “baloney.”

“Climate change is not happening, there is no significant man-made global warming now, there hasn’t been any in the past and there is no reason to expect any in the future,” Coleman said.

The old video clip has spread widely on social media platforms including Twitter and Instagram in recent days. A tweet featuring the footage has been shared over 28,000 times since it was posted on Wednesday.

Coleman’s claims are false. As the AP has previously reported, overwhelming scientific evidence shows global warming and climate change are real and caused by human activity, including human-caused carbon dioxide emissions.

The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, an entity consisting of more than 200 scientists, said in a report released in February that human-induced climate change is already causing deadly extreme weather, such as drought, fires, and floods, and that the situation will get worse if global warming isn’t curbed."

I suppose what is in debate is not the idea that the climate changes but is it an imminent threat. That's an ongoing debate.
Years ago the ozone layer was depleting. Latest news is that the hole in the ozone layer is healing.
Could it be that there's just too little evidence to prove that humans can be right in their assessment of the threat?

The false claims stem from a years-old CNN interview with John Coleman,
If you are going to claim CNN as a source for anything, forget it.

Try searching the Web for fraudulent lies relating to climate control. The supply is bountiful, and by people who know the facts.

You can argue whether climate change is normal or is it a product of homo sapiens until the "cows come home" and then some.

However, if you go to the Columbia Icefields, in Alberta, Canada you will see the following. Stalks in the ground show you where the glacier was in the 30s, 40s,50s,etc. Today the tip of the glacier is a long way up the mountain. So, what is the big deal? Well, the glacier is receding year after year.

Why do glaciers recede? They recede because the world is warming up. You can argue day and night what is the cause of this warming but it's not rocket science to see that the world is warming up and the seas are rising.

Cold air causes glaciers to grow. Warm air causes glaciers to recede. It's "elementary, my dear Watson."

Your preaching to the deaf. They believe what they want to believe. I had some time to spare this day and thought I'd lead some of my Climate Denier Sicko buddies to a bit more info on the subject.

The glaciers are not melting. I posted some on the subject today, but that's not going to change your mind. My posts are just to help out some of the puzzled on the subject.

I have spent some time researching this, trying to look at the data, not just opinions and I do believe the earth's temperature is rising. At first I was skeptical, but now I believe it's really hard to credibly deny.

I also think there is credible evidence that man has contributed to that warming, and why not with the rise in CO2 levels and so many other changes we have made to the atmosphere. How much is man caused, and how much natural is harder to tell. And where it's going from here is even harder to forecast. This is all science based.

What we should do about is a whole different question, very political and I believe almost impossible to resolve.
Hasn't the climate been changing since the world was formed?
Absolutely! No debate on that one. And it is part of what makes it hard to know what's coming next. Over time it was due to many different factors, the man made ones are newer.
I suppose what is in debate is not the idea that the climate changes but is it an imminent threat. That's an ongoing debate.
Yep, and it depends on the time horizon and accuracy of forecasts. I don't see a lot of "imminent" threats in our life times, except for people living at very low elevation perhaps. But in our grandchildren's time, maybe...
Years ago the ozone layer was depleting. Latest news is that the hole in the ozone layer is healing.
Yes, and the reason for that seems to have been chlorofluorocarbons and manmade related gases. Since the 80s their use has been greatly reduced under the Montreal Protocol. A case study in science based international cooperation. Unfortunately such a simple solution appears unlikely for global warming. The ozone hole was much easier to fix.

A good example of one of the many lines of evidence for global warming.

The ozone layer has been healing because of laws enacted to outlaw the chemicals causing the problem. This is a success story!

Global warming is an average measurement but it’s rise causes variation in normal weather patterns. It also impacts ocean currents and temperatures. Granted that over the eons the planet has gone through many cycles of warming and cooling but the current issue is that the disturbing patterns are man made and will effect us dramatically. However, it’s a symptom caused by the rising Co2 levels. That’s the real problem and its directly related to our burning of fossil fuels, or for that matter burning anything with carbon.

The rise in Co2 levels has been quite dramatic since the early 1900’s – Global Co2 Levels. This rise will severely impact the planet if it continues on at this rate. Besides the erratic weather and ocean conditions the rise in Co2 levels are lowering PH levels in the oceans wiping out many species, especially the coral. This is happening right now.

Unfortunately, most of society cannot comprehend the act of doing something now to have a favorable outcome down the road. How many people actually have a savings account for a rainy day. Most live from paycheck to paycheck.

So there are lots of scientist that know what is going on. It’s just the politicians are in between them and the public causing this mess because no one wants to upset the status quo. If we keep ignoring the data one day it will hit us in the face. As the Co2 increase everything gets worse and eventually mammals (us) will start having a difficult time to breath. The plants will be happy. There is a tipping point like going over the edge of a waterfall. Once we go over that point we may not know it until we hit bottom and that’s what the scientist are trying to avoid.

People can spin it any they want but the data don’t lie. Since this type of problem is difficult to model scientist cannot say for certain when this or that will happen. This really reminds of the recent movie “Don’t Look Up”.

This is something that will effect your children and grand children.

Anyway, I just hope I’m not reincarnated and have to deal with this mess in the future.
