More layoffs, this time in media!

The Washington Post chief announced a new round of layoffs. That's to be expected, though. The current administration refuses to provide scandals on par with the former administration, so there's less to report on. :ROFLMAO:
The Washington Post was bought by Eugene Meyer in 1933 when it went into bankruptcy, and is currently owned by his daughter and son-in-law, who eliminated their competition by buying out several rival publications.

Just sayin'.

;)

We need doctors, plumbers, teachers, nurses, garbage pickup people but do we really need media people. Sure, they might be nice but are they really necessary.
Good point. Skills-trade jobs are in dire need of qualified workers. They're short of employees by hundreds-of-thousands. The need is so great, companies are offering scholarships for the education and training.

And, yeah, there's a shortage of doctors, but ever since medicine has become more a business than a service, a great majority of medical students choose a specialty rather than general practice.

For me, there's a huge difference between general media and independent journalists. I prefer independent journalists.

I could do without most of them. The world might be a better place and a happier place. Sorry all you phone users but I have one too.
In the U.S., most of us believe that the freedom of the press, which is protected by the First Amendment in our Constitution, is critical to a democracy in which the government is accountable to the people. A free media functions as a watchdog that can investigate and report on government wrongdoing.

You might be "happier" being sheltered from what's going on in the world, but that happiness wouldn't last long. Allowing imbeciles to gain power never ends well.

Wrong. Meyer's daughter and son-in-law sold the newspaper to Jeff Bezos in 2013.

And yet you label Fox as “faux” and call any media outlet you disagree with as “ white supremacist.” Freedom of the press means freedom for all viewpoints, something I don’t think you understand.

Nope, I don't think I ever called Fox News "faux." So there's lie number one.
I only call media outlets that promote White Supremacism as "White Supremacist." It has nothing to do with whether I agree or disagree with them. So that's lie number two.
I never said that any media outlet shouldn't be allowed to promote or disseminate any viewpoint, so that's lie number three.

Three lies in only two sentences. Nice job! :ROFLMAO:
