I had one in one of my cars too. I still have a CD player in my 2018 Ford Focus but I seldom use it. I listen to my USB sticks. I have 2 USB outlets in my car. They are great for long trips as I have over 860 songs in each one. Can't stand commercial radio but listen to the news once or twice a week.

As recently as 2004, I had a factory-installed cassette player in my VW Passat. Then we were forced to convert to CD’s, and now everything’s digital. Kinda miss making my own cassette mix tapes right off the radio like I did in the 1980’s…. *sighs*.

I also recorded my favorites onto cassette, usually from CD's. High-quality blank cassettes sounded much better than factory pre-recorded cassettes. But CD's eliminated the tape hiss & no problems with the tape unraveling or breaking.
My last 2 cars didn't have CD players, but I recorded my favorites from CD's to flash drives, which hold hours & hours of music.

I've done the same. :giggle:
