Incontinence issues lately

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow morning. So, if it IS a UTI I can get properly medicated. TBH, I have had so many UTIs over the years, am not sure why I did not think of it. I did have similar symptoms while in rehab. Got tested and they said just overactive bladder, no infection. Should have pushed it more

If you find out the problem is bladder prolapse, my mom had that problem too. She tried a few bladder control meds and they caused problems, so her doctor referred her to a specialist who wanted to do a bladder suspension with a mesh implant. I think she was 79 at the time....late 70s, anyway.

Well, I looked up what that surgery entailed and it turned out that well over 60% of patients need at least one follow-up surgery because the mesh thing tends to move...it's hard to implant it in exactly the right place because, naturally, the patient is lying down when it's implanted. Also, people complained about it causing pain. Some even asked for it to be removed.

But there's this alternative surgery: Colpocleisis, or ******l closure surgery. It corrects bladder, uterine, and ******l vault prolapse. It's a much simpler surgery, safer, and much shorter....bladder suspension w/mesh would take at least 90min, where the Colpocleisis takes only about 30-40min.

Since my dad died years earlier, and she wasn't gonna need it, she chose ******l closure, and it was very successful.

Male leakage and urgency. Have been buying pads for maybe 10 years.
I have prediabetes 2 and sugar and carbohydrates will react on me fairly quickly. I gotta be careful how much I eat and where I eat.
Also had prostatectomy. Damage to the urinary nerves (my opinion) from prolonged biking and sciatic nerve issues from collapsing spinal discs.
The drug of choice for bladder control is inexpensive, take as needed, but for me, they cause severe constipation.

I had bladder and rectal prolapse. Incontinence was not a problem for me.

I had the surgery with the mesh. I didn't find out until later that it could lead to problems. Anyone considering this surgery needs to inform herself.

When I was younger, I had a friend who got the ******l closure done. At the time I was horrified. But as we get older....

Did you drink a lot of carbonated ginger ale while in rehab?

My story: I was on vacation at an All-inclusive in the Caribbean just before Covid lockdown. In fact, I flew home 2 days prior to lockdown. While there, I drank many Vodka Tonics. It was hot, they put little vodka and a lot of carbonated Tonic.

The first night I was up, literally, every 15 minutes to pee. I was sure I had a UTI,
but the resort physician said he sees a lot of this. People who don't normally have carbonated beverages get an irritated bladder and this is the result.

He gave me 4 pills to take one each day. By the second day I was fine but took the other 2 also. I don't know what they were, but they worked. Over this past Summer I had an urge for ginger ale. So I bought a 12 pack. After a few cans in one day, I had the same response. When I stopped the ginger ale, I was better in 2 days without any medication.

If there is any pressure from constipation, that can also cause significant bladder problems, so address that issue too, if it is one for you. Keeping regular, lowers pressure on the bladder, and helps both.
I hope you have a good doctor and a helpful appointment.

Home from Doctor. She gave me a prescription for meds for the UTI she found. Also we discussed my increased anxiety lately. So she prescribed a new med that will work together with the med I am already taking. I will see her again next month to see how I am doing.

I am so happy that you will soon feel better and be able to relax regarding the urinary issues. Nice that your doctor was able to see you so soon. I look forward to you feeling better.
