Ever home-made dog booties for snow outside?

It is -2 degrees outside, feels like -27. My dogs' feet hurt so bad, she couldn't stand on them after being outside. So, I thought I would take a pair of my bootie socks and put a baggie inside and tie at the top with yarn. And where I live, it hardly ever gets this cold, about once every 5 years.

yes...we bought 2 pair from chewy...velcro strap ...no good..
so we used tops of winter socks...stretchy part..measured..sewed
don't stay on ...
i use mineral oil on her paws now...keeps them from cracking!

If we'd sewn a strap from socks that goes over her back..maybe stayed on..or...sewn to coat...a lot of dressing time tho...and we may make more..need to come up high on leg

I keep my dog in when the weather is too severe. Last night was below zero, and it's now reading 4 degrees F on our thermometer. I let him in the yard twice so far today, he walks out and does what he needs to do very quickly and returns to the back porch. I watch and wait and let him in immediately.

Glad that works. It is good for their paws too.

If you were gonna make...
would have to be "water"(snow) proof..but I can't think of anything except..silliness...putting plastic sandwiches bag on their paws tied with a Christmas ribbon.🤣😂🤭

My dog does not like putting on a coat so I doubt that I could get boots on him. I've been putting vaseline on his paws it helps but I will also try mineral oil, thanks for the tip. The weather is brutal here so we are not out for very long. He's getting bored and does not play with toys, I hope that we can take a long walk soon.

My answer to the problem ..

I could never get any booties to stay on my dog when the weather got really cold, and wet/icy.

It doesn't happen too often around here , so it's a strange sight when I get out Bear's Walkee Paws. .
But I guess this is the weekend for them.

These waterproof walking boot/leggings cannot be taken off by a dog, because a strap goes up over their back:

I couldn't stop laughing. What a great invention, I might just have to buy some. It makes so much more sense because the short bootees are always falling off. The only problem I foresee is that it might take me just as long to dress my dog as it is to dress myself.:ROFLMAO:
