Hi Everyone! I'm Kathy, and as my handle says, you can call me Kate but I'll answer to either. :giggle: I'm writing from a warm, bright, and sunny... oh wait, scratch that... from a brutal 8 degree with solid ice covering everything Pennsylvania. Sad that Christmas is hours away from being just a memory, but I'm being a big girl about it and not whining. Too much. 🤭 I am a freelance writer, songwriter, wife, mom, and I was born during the year of greatest cars ever made... 1957. Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hello neighbor! I'm in the equally frigid state of NY, but we are a hardy bunch so we can handle this, right?
I will look forward to your comments, Ms. freelance writer. No worries, this forum is able to decipher nonsense with the best of them.

Yes, we certainly can handle it! But that won't stop me from thinking about the tulips and daffodils that will start poking out in about four months! 🌷 I watch a YouTube channel of a guy who walks around NYC nearly every day... he showed a fountain... maybe Bryant Park... not sure... and it was all ice.

Hi, Kate! Welcome from Toronto, Canada. What genre of subject/s do you write about?
Thank you for the welcome, Pinky. I do strictly non-fiction articles now and can't seem to get into fiction like I did in the past. So whatever needs to be written, I try to tackle unless I have no interest in the subject. I've had way too much "time off" for the last couple of years, and am going to be writing a lot more in 2023 hopefully.

Hi @CallMeKate! We had our below zeros at night and single digits in the daytime for a couple of days, now warming up to the 40s.
I'm looking forward to the 40s again to get rid of some of this ice. We had 5" of snow three days ago but then it rained and got rid of most of it. Immediately after that, the temp dropped to single digits and flash-froze everything.

Hi @CallMeKate

My parents came from Scranton, so I visited there from CT many times during my youth.
Thank you for the welcome, RadishRose. I've only seen Scranton and Wilkes Barre on the way to other places, but we've talked about going up to Steamtown Mall. I'd have to check first to see if that's one of the dead malls though... that's what most of them seem to be these days.

Hi Kate! Nice to meet you here among all the other nice, friendly, helpful and caring people here! I'm in Ohio and our temperatures just got above 0 F today. It's been so very cold. I have my heat turned up to keep the cold out. I hope you enjoy yourself here most of all!

Sounds nice, MarkD. I most likely won't be seeing 61 again until around mid May.

Been rushing so much today I hadn’t noticed you were from Pennsylvania. Some of my favorite public gardens are there including my #1, Chanticleer outside of Philadelphia. Longwood is special too.
