Any Trekkers Out There?

The first episode of the series, Enterprise with Scott Bakula or the first (new) movie with Chris Pine?
This is the only one I don't like. Don't care for Scott Bakula. Wasn't he in the original, playing a hippie when the Enterprise time traveled to San Francisco in the '60's? The 3rd year, the last & worst.

Gosh, I don't know, but that's hilarious, if he was.
I've liked him since the days of Quantum Leap.

The original Star Trek series was broadcast from 1966 thru 1969, referred to as the late 60s. Arguably from cultural and societal perspectives, the most impactful during the modern era. I graduated from HS in 1966 and instead of going into college I'd hoped to, went into the USAF after scoring high on tests in order to escape being drafted then ending up in the war with an M16 dodging bullets. Star Trek had a huge fan base but was hated by many of the traditional powers in Hollywood, so ended up being axed for set up weak reasons. In hindsight, many early media critics eventually changed their ways jumping on that bandwagon to praise its well crafted scripts once the powerful haters in their industry backed off. In my USAF base tv lounges, rooms were often packed with fans. Of course space was big news in many ways during those years culminating with the Moon landing in 1969. Have never been a Trekker, never been to any events, but very much enjoy space science fiction, especially the more realistic.

First saw Joan Collins in "Island in the Sun" with Harry Belafonte in 1957. I fell in love with her--Harry too, of course.

Walking to this movie with my grandma she was talking about her ex Willie the Bum, my grandfather. I remember exactly what she said and exactly where we were when she said it. I had to ask the questions, she never willingly spoke of him.

Oops, I guess I'm going off track!

Haven't noticed any reference to it yet, but I'm sure most of yinz true Trekkers have seen the Star Trek spoof movie, Galaxy Quest. What did yinz think of it? We thought it was hilarious!

I meant to meantion a couple gripes I got about TNG, to wit: If Picard was (will be?) French, why the English accent? Also, I didn't like how Worf's turtle head kept changing from one season to the next. N' not onny that, but IMO, Worf's son should've bin called "Dworf" instead of "Alexander". Okay, I'm done. For now.
